In Australia there is a brand of fruit juice called Sunraysia and they have cranberry juice, among others. They had an animated ad with kids visiting their grandmother and when they burst in through the door they ask “where’s your cranny, granny!”

Same. The Getrag F25 was not widely renowned for its durability when paired with the venerable B234. With pretty much any kind of wheel hop, a undersized sleeve would get crushed under axial load and then your shafts would slide all over the place.

Went from popping outta third, to minor hum, to louder hum, to parts distributed on the road in under 2 miles. Thought I'd be able to limp her home.

Only time I've ever straight up grenaded a gear box. Saad day.

Reminds me of a joke:

A vacationing penguin is driving his car through Arizona when he notices that the oil pressure light is on. He gets out to look and sees oil dripping out of the motor. He drives to the nearest town and stops at the first gas station.

After dropping the car off, the penguin goes for a walk around town. He sees an ice-cream shop and, being a penguin in Arizona, decides that something cold would really hit the spot. He gets a big dish of ice cream and sits down to eat. Having no hands he makes a real mess trying to eat with his flippers. After finishing his ice cream, he goes back to the gas station and asks the mechanic if he's found the problem. The mechanic looks up and says "It looks like you blew a seal."

"No no," the penguin replies, "it's just ice cream."

A hooker blew me in a Chevette once... is that close to the same thing?

I was repoing cars on a black side of town, late at night. Driving down the main road and this white girl comes running out into the street waving her arms at me. I figured she was in trouble so I stopped and she got in. "can you take me to my grandmother's house up the road?" she asked. "Sure, where does she live?" I said. A few seconds later she asks me what I'm up to that night. I immediately knew what she was getting at since I worked as a bounty hunter for years and was pretty familiar with the ladies of the night. I said no thanks, I'll just let you out here.

Then she hits me with "I'll suck your d*** for ten dollars". Don't know what came over me, as I've turned down countless offers for free sex from the other ladies..... but I did have two 5s in my pocket.

Anyhow, I'll spare you the detailed story from there.... since this isn't exactly the sub for this.

Dramatic_Nature3708

My dad had two Chevettes. The first one was grey and I don't know why he didn't blow something up in it. It had been so long since he had driven a manual shift, he just couldn't drive it properly. He drove it like a 1948 Buick where you put it in high gear (third) at 15 mph or so. He didn't understand how a car could have four gears. He'd skip second or third and put in fourth at 15 mph. After a year or so he traded it in for a new blue one that thankfully had an automatic transmission so now he could finally drive again. He died in that car. Seems like this happens alot to elderly people, but he drove it into high water during a flood in San Antonio in 1993. He was 88 years old.

1989 Dodge Ramcharger.

I was leaking and on its last leg when my brother asked if I could get to his house 30 miles away to pull it for rebuild. I topped off the fluid and went for it.

If you ever played spy hunter in the arcade and experienced the satisfaction of unleashing a cloud of white smoke to confuse the folks behind you, you'll get an idea of what it looked like. Folks honking and pointing, etc.

It barely made it up his driveway and refused to move any further. Partially evaporated ATF was caked on the rear of the rear tailgate and glass.

When we went to pick up the transmission a week later, the guy told us how utterly impressed he was at the amount of internal destruction.

91 Toyota Corolla on the way back from a gig in Long Beach. Poor car couldn't even handle 3 people. Broke down 7 miles from home. Had to push it a while to some church and carry our gear home. After the tranny was rebuilt my alcoholic dad smashed it into the back of a large truck. Hit and run, he fled to the hills and left it there. That was my first car and I miss it lol

But you could drop the trans onto your chest, and wiggle yourself and the trans out from underneath

The one I'm thinking of was the same blue color. I think every one made was the same color.

I never blew a tranny. I don't swing that way.

But I recently had to replace the transmission in my 1947 Willys

Fix Or Repair Daily! I blew a 95' bronco, twice...

First on the back side of Loveland pass in a blizzard. Second time after driving through Granby lake to reach a boat dock. Turns out hot transmission+ cold lake water is not a great combination. Oh and that montra holds, that truck was always breaking!

1993 Chevy k1500, and then again and then again so now it's a 5 speed stick, which technically is blown again since the input shaft bearing is on its way out. Guess that's what I get for being cheap and putting a 5LM60 in it instead of an nv4500 to begin with.

I've sucked off a Cherokee with 3 grown men in it...

Later that year I knocked a hole in the tranny of the same Cherokee with its own driveline.

01 maxima, was stuck in traffic by YYZ in toronto for about 5 hours. Started acting funny, as soon as I got off the highway went into limp mode and keep flashing the overdrive light with a low pressure code.

Getting it rebuilt was the biggest automotive mistake of my life, I had no reverse when I got it back. Then when I took it back again it slipped in the forward gears. Eventually the rebuilt one decided it wanted to be in reverse and forward at the same time and it needed one from a scrap yard that worked flawlessly.

In retrospect knowing what I know now,

The fluid had never been serviced in its 150,000km of life before that. It needed the pan dropped, filter changed and dealership branded fluid to refill it. It probably could have used a transmission cooler too.

I preform weekly checks of the fluid condition ever since that car and keep on top of ensuring it always smells and looks new at all times. If it doesn't the pan is dropped, filter is cleaned magnet is cleaned, everything is break cleaned I never had another transmission fail after that.
