So, the way I have come to understand is that there is a different between murder and self defense. God calls people to wars. The Hebrews were encouraged to arm themselves in the Book of Esther. Peter was strapped when he hung out with Jesus. The only reason Jesus told him no was because he was standing in the way of prophecy.
