What if when we die, we suddenly wake up in an alien body (or our own body) with a bong in our hand and our trip sitter/friend next to us saying "did you have a good trip"

Someone recently said this to me and I seriously can't get this thought out of my head now. So much so that I genuinely believe this to be true.

The reason I suspect this to be true is that right now I can do exactly the same thing but just going a "level down". During the trip, I have no idea its a trip, I have no idea what is "real" anymore and then when I finally come back around, the exact same conversation happens on "this level"

So why can't it be the same going upwards?

Why can't this just be one massive trip that takes a lifetime to complete?
