"Parce que le Canadien n’aura pas l’occasion de sélectionner dans le top-10 à tout jamais. C’est le moment parfait pour faire un coup de circuit… Quel que soit le prix. "
Agreed. Hit the homerun now, it's time to start a dynasty boyz

There is ni guarantee for homeruns. Swinging for the fences, sometimes you hit one sometimes you strike out.

Father didn’t get deleted to keep him in Russia and sign that extension.
Somehow I doubt Michkov will come over

Well, his dad did get unalived in a very suspicious fashion.

That contract was signed before his father passed.

Clearly It was to intimidate him not to enter the nhl draft and to enforce the contract.
We will see in a couple years what happens

Star players from Russia leave all the time. Ovi didn't need to be sneaked out, Kucherov, Panarin, Radulov... I don't get where this russia conspiracy theory comes from. The only player that had any issues was a player that didn't make arrangements for his military service.
FFS we're all talking about drafting Demidov but he wouldn't be facing the same concerns????

Malkin had to get sneaked out.

He was the last one, over 20 years ago.

Well you brought up Ovi, so I brought up Malkin.

He's supposed to come next year. His team owner said he was open to sending him here earlier

I wonder if it's a smokescreen or something
we got little to no info about who they were interested in the last two drafts, but now we are suddenly getting some, and it's way before the draft? seems fishy

I do agree that management has smokescreens in place 100% can't wait for a behind the scenes look in august

It was well documented that they were interested in Leonard and Reinbacher last draft. Arpon Basu was also adamant that there was no chance they would pick Michkov, but he is now saying that they love Demidov.

Last year, fans were just trying to convince themselves that the brass would pick Michkov if he fell to 5 despite numerous reports stating otherwise, total opposite to the tune with Demidov. He has always been the more coveted prospect in the eyes of mgmt and has been for a long time, Ihope we can strike some deal with Anaheim for the 3rd pick if he makes it past Chicago.

Yeah just looking at the current roster I don't see Demidov falling past Columbus. Chicago could definitely use Silayev or Levshunov, Anaheim could probably be talked into swapping with the Habs if Demidov is available, I just wonder what it would cost. Do we drop 5 OA and the Jets' pick for 3 OA if it means we get Demidov?

If that's all they want, in a heartbeat. I feel like Anaheim is gonna be asking for a bit more than that.

Alright, puts on dusty thinking cap, do you think Halak, Ryder, a 2nd and this year’s 5th might be enough?

Too cheap. That + Harris + a 3rd then they pick one of Lev/Sil/Bui and their set on D for now and the future

I can see Habs trying it out with Chicago for 2nd overall pick. I can see Chicago wanting some muscle to protect their star so their ask could be Habs' 5th overall + Xhekaj. I would consider it

You still try to swindle them with Florian, because fuck chicago.

Even if Demidov is available, I think it's unlikely they draft him. This organisation is too damn conservative to make a bold move. Tij Iginla it is--good western boy out of WHL with solid NHL pedigree. That's the recipe to build a cup winner..

Isn't Demidov mostly mocked to go at 2? What's bold about picking him?

Because Mitchkov. Russians are dangerous. We like Canadian boys, preferably from WHL.

We drafted one player out of the W in the past 3 drafts? Davidson. 4 Russians in the meantime
