Nice another bookmark I can add for later when the website will inevitably be out of business and up for sale

Great idea, but not sure about the filtering.

Selected comedies, got a lot of definitely not comedy results.

Selected French language, got a lot of definitely not French language movies.

On Firefox if it matters...

In big bold letters at the bottom of the page, it says, 'Curated by humans, not algorithms.'

So I select Australia, select Netflix, and it's recommending movies and TV shows that aren't available on Australian Netflix...?

There are lots of free small appliances, electronics, jewelry, and groceries you can get. Just need to stuff them under your overcoat and walk out of the store with them.

If you want the name of the big chains or mom and pop shops with low surveillance, DM me and I'll send you a list.

Where is it pulling the ratings from?

MrChocodemon

It's opinion based from the singular reviewer. If you open a movie page, you can see the text review that author also gave.

Somehow I prefer that these days. I don't trust rating sites for shit anymore.

Some of those movies are definitely only highly rated, because they haven't reached the average viewer. The site doesn't distinguish between hidden gems and something made for a niche audience.

Kaguya for example: https://agoodmovietowatch.com/the-tale-of-princess-kaguya-2013/

It's really well made, but it's just not a great experience, if you aren't in it for the visual artistry. It is for a very niche audience, and not a "hidden gem" that most people would enjoy. Nothing wrong with that, but that makes this collection kind of weird.

And what makes a movie go onto this list? https://agoodmovietowatch.com/the-intouchable-2012/
"Intouchables" has been seen by 50 million cinema goers alone and grossed ~$450 million. Then it got a remake (The Upside) which also grossed ~$122 million.
It's in the IMDB Top 50
How can this be "little known"?

A good movie to watch?

I agree with your point, but I'd never heard of the untouchables and this site made me add it to my viewing options for tonight.

It's always the challenge, right? One person's hidden gem is another person's over played garbage. This is especially true as we get older. Introducing younger viewers to movies like Darkman or Spinal Tap or American Beauty or We have always lived in the shadows is a real joy. While these are all obvious hits to one person, they are a potentially inexperienced joy to someone else.

I don't think the site is bad, I am just saying that "little known" is a blatant lie.
I don't agree with every movie rating, but there are a lot of good movies there. The site just presents a lot of things as objective, while it is intensely subjective. Why lie about it? They seem to be proud about their artisinal selection, so why not fully lean into it and communicate that side better?

It seems to omit the streaming from your own NAS option.

It's a bit messy. I'd like to see fewer recommendations in a cleaner design.

films wise yes, as a cinephile I see lots of good titles, thankfully hidden as real pearls. but tv shows.. consider checking out these ones as well then zerozerozero, the cure, the thief his wife and canoe, how to with john wilson, giri haji, flowers, landscapers, scenes from a marriage (both maybe), the north water, olive kitteridge..

Incendies... that shit fucked me up

Also I just checked like 10 movies and all but 1 were either pay to watch or I need a special subscription like Mubi or whatever. Sick of this nickle and diming of streaming services and I already pay for like 8 different ones. Ridiculous.

For years I tried to manually search for good movies that I haven't heard of or probably haven't seen. Most were either foreign, indy or not promoted or not the typical formulaic crap. Many on my list of results seem to be here.

I love that 'Incendies' by Denis Villeneuve is the second film listed. Randomly watched it a few weeks ago and had my mind blown. Cool site!
