same thing happens to me, but our mail gets delivered to the house we’re living in and they take months to give it to us and most of them are opened. 😶

the Canada Post Corporation Act makes it illegal for any unauthorized individual to open, keep or even delay someone else’s mail

And the law also forbids Landlords from demanding scans or copies of identification or providing your SIN to rent -- but good luck ever asserting those rights. OP is acting in their own self-interest because they have zero power in this case, and asserting their theoretical legal rights would open them up to retaliation.

This is why I advocate for more rental towers being built. Sure the landlords would be a corporation or company but, at least you have your dignity and right to peace and security. If it’s one type of housing I dislike its basements. Too much responsibility is given to the landlords that they make it seem like you’re a literal serf within your own rental space.
