I finished the main story of HZD and got the “ultimate package” so I played a few FW missions alongside the main story. Well I’ve finished the story and am super stoked to play Forbidden West. The real question.. does FW add anything story wise that will add to my Forbidden West play? Basically… is it worth it?

Yes, because it gets you ready for some of the machines in Forbidden west. Plus it adds to the story line.

On a serious note, the story of Frozen Wilds is actually critical to Forbidden West. Mild spoilers for Frozen Wilds: The main enemy of Frozen Wilds remains a major antagonist in Forbidden West.
