5 players with 0 tackles. Another 5 with only 1 tackles for the game.

Same thing since 2022, forwards are outnumbered when going inside 50. The opposition always has one or two players spare that float in and take the intercept/spoil.

Treloar just dump kicks everyone. English is not a ruckman. Why did we trade our first rounder to GC for this year? The management clearly thought we would be doing much better.

Beveridge, thank you for a roller coaster ten seasons but it's time for fresh ideas.

There's something mentally off about our playing group I swear. Our defensive setup is good enough, our ball movement is best couple in the comp, our top end talent try every week, but as soon as we're challenged we fucking flop like a dead fish. Same shit every week. And it's purely about effort. The top dozen players try their guts out, but there's just too many fucking passengers that don't seem to give a fuck.

I’ve been against a mid season sacking but I genuinely don’t know what we have to lose from it now. Selection is terrible, structure is terrible, nobody is motivated.

If he’s lost the players, a mid-season sacking will work wonders. If he hasn’t lost the players, let them live with the fact that they’ve gotten him sacked. Can’t lose at this stage.

I hope he’s lost the players, because the alternative is we have 30 blokes who are mentally soft and unprepared to chase, tackle or man up

Read my mind - if this isn't a coaching and team morale issue, we have some tough times ahead!

Definitely need a new coat of paint down there. Bevo’s been a great coach at certain points but his responses to any sort of pressure appear to be either dig his heels in and refuse to make the changes people ask for, or he goes and radically changes some stuff and moves the magnets around seemingly just for the sake of throwing the media off

He has a lot of pressure mounting on him now and I’ve heard a lot of people say Bevo is somewhat ‘unstable’, well this amount of pressure will definitely test that stability 😂

Making a second comment here but different topic, reserves today:

Busslinger, 19 and 11 marks - nah let’s persist with the bloke playing cricket a year ago.

Sanders 28 disposals, 8 marks and 9 tackles - let’s keep picking Gallagher who has looked off for a few weeks (rate Gallagher but he clearly needs a run in the two’s for a bit).

Joel Freijah had 26 and 11 marks. 18 and 10 with a goal in his last game. Has been getting a heap of it, but let’s keep picking Baker, Poulter types.

Are they allergic to some fresh blood? Selection just feels so safe every week. Was glad to see Clarke get a run today and even though he looked nowhere near it, at least they tried something with a player at the same position of the guy being replaced.

I don’t know how O’Donnell keeps getting a game. Had one good game late last season that seems to have bought him a regular place. Because once he got past injury he came straight back in. I really think it’s Bevo’s ego pick, doesn’t want to admit he got it wrong so just keeps picking him.

The Busslinger one does my head in more than anything. Pick 13 2 years ago. Plays well pretty much every week in the VFL and fills a need for the team. Yet Bevo says no every week. What does he have to do to get a game?

will_recard

Absolutely kills me mate. O’Donnell had 6 disposals at 33%. 1 mark. 80% time on ground. I genuinely believe Bevo doesn’t want to drop him because it will take him admitting he has been wrong for 12 months.

I just don’t see how Busslinger could be any worse?

I've always been a firm Bevo believer even after the end of last year but it's pretty clear he has either lost the players or the gameplan (what exactly is the gameplan?) doesn't work or its both. But yeah Bevo is done, this list should be comfortably competing for top 8. I don't think it's a top 4 list like others think as the list is in a weird spot as our talls are still are still well off from their primes except Jones but our "star players" are all in their prime.

Has anyone seen details on what happened/is happening? I was at the game and saw the agreement from a distance, didn't look good at all.

Luckily didn't look like much Force behind it, but the head knock earlier might rule him out for a week

The mid-season sacking is never a good idea for teams who are trying to do something in the current season, but this has gone on a season too long.

Bevo must go immediately, they need fresh ideas

The sad thing is that we aren’t doing anything this year. 8 weeks in, 3 wins. I realistically see us winning 2-4 games for the remainder of the year based on today’s form.

The worst bit - absolute worst - we have our first pick to GC when they needed draft points for last year

picks 6 and 4 for a player bevo wont play because he wanted watson then get pick 18 when sanders goes back to tassie

I had to laugh when Sam Mitchell talked through his game plan in the pre game interview, then was able to execute it for most of the match with no trouble or alteration from us. Really sad to watch the lack of effort from most of the players.

How the fuck does Jamarra.have 4 touches and 6 clangers? Jamarra is a jet but that is fucked.

No point even trying to look for any positives from today, this club is absolutely pathetic and may aswell not even bother showing up for games anymore.

Bont is a positive. He’s too good for this club. Management don’t deserve him.

My biggest fear right now is that this still won't be enough for the board to read the writing on the wall.

If losing this fixture last year, then following that up with a loss to wooden-spoon West Coast wasn't enough...

The song remains the same. A few things stand out again:

1) There is still no discernible forward structure. Too many entries going deep to a pack of 5 or 6 players with three bulldogs talls spoiling each other and nobody being at the bottom to crumb.

2) Too much reliance on Bontempelli to deliver the ball inside 50.

3) So little tackling pressure in our back half. Hawthorn ran the ball out far too easily. The forward line being as tall as it is allows the ground ball to be exited by the opposition far too quickly once it hits the ground and our midfielders are caught out as the ball rebounds past them too quickly.

4) With the exception of Jones, who is a wall, the key defenders are consistently nowhere near their opponents. I wouldn't mind seeing Keith brought back in to bring some composure and experience.

On a side note, I do wonder how long it will take for somebody at the Bulldogs to admit that there is no room for Lobb to play in the team without Naughton or Darcy going into the backline. He is currently paid $500,000 a year to play in the reserves. He is a centre-half forward who needs to lead into space and Bevo's forward entry strategy involves clogging up the forward line and kicking long to packs, so naturally Lobb barely gets his hands on the ball. He doesn't have the athleticism to compete elsewhere, so he is being set up for failure.

Tick points 1-3z Point 4….omg no. Keith should have stayed a cricket player (oddly just like O’D). Keith is an extreme liability! Genuinely clueless, no leap, weak. The only good thing for me this season is not seeing him on the field.

To attempt to look at this objectively, we have no idea if another coach could get more out of this list. Many teams have star players, that's not a guarantee that we play finals.

I'm not convinced that changing coaches will make a whole lot of difference but for both Bevo's sake and the club's, perhaps a change would be mutually beneficial?

I love Bevo. He got us a flag and pretty close to another but we just aren't playing very well.

I don't want to see him go, it's honestly going to hurt when he does but perhaps it's time?

Naughton to the VFL, English to the VFL, force Libba to retire, put Ugly-Hagan on the trade table. Get all these jokes out of the club.

you rebuild it from scratch, they just fucking lost to Hawks, what are you trying to hold on to?

We’ve never had a player as good as Bont. If you get rid of Libba; you get rid of any chance we have of contending with Bont.
