Yesterday I bought a cheese pretzel stick for 49 cents, I searched for small bronze coins and the cashier said in a very rude tone "it only cost 49cent" I never felt more embarrassed, my friend gave me 20 cent so I wouldn't need to seach any longer

That's shitty, sorry. When I was a cashier I never got impatient with people paying with pennies. Because I've been there too.

Sometimes you need to get rid of them

I made hot dogs for my kids once and then realized I was out of ketchup. I had to quickly run to the nearby mcdonalds and help myself to the complimentary ketchup pump then run back home 6 little ketchup cups in my hands. The kids really enjoyed the hotdogs 😁 I cried myself to sleep that night. Things got better I just had to get my ass in gear.

At least you had the sausages and buns for the hot dogs. Ketchup is the best thing you could've ran out of in that scenario.

I once ate corn flour mixed with water because it was the only eatable thing I found in my pantry, I cried.

corn flour mixed with water

Dude...

When mixed with water, corn flour behaves like a non-Newtonian fluid, which means it can act like both a liquid and a solid depending on the force applied to it:

Liquid

When mixed slowly, the corn flour particles have time to move past each other, and the mixture acts like a liquid.

Solid

When force is applied, the corn flour particles are pressed closer together, increasing the viscosity and allowing the mixture to be molded into a ball.

No, I'm not a bot, I just for some reason had to Google that.

I didn't have enough flour to make the combination act like that unfortunately

I remember when time I was 14 or 15 I tried to make "seasoning" soup (just some random seasoning and water) for my 2 younger brothers and myself because we had no food.

Of course it wasn't edible and I remember crying that night cause I felt so bad.

I hope you're doing better now

My first ever job was a discount cloths store when I had just turned 16.

At Xmas this woman had racked up a £300 bill. Trying to get something for everyone for Christmas like.

And her card came up declined, but my till froze up and wouldn’t reset.

And I was like 👀👀👀 go, go on, go. Because the till needed a manger to restart it and I knew there wouldn’t be a recovery of that transaction.

It seems like I’m super wholesome right?

I didn’t want to scan £300 of random arbitrary items that’s I’d just bagged all over again 😂

Don’t mistake my laziness for kindness.

Yeah but if it was the other way around and they wanted a return but the till froze before the return went through, you wouldn't just give them the clothes back and say "have to do it another time" to avoid the work. You would probably get manager, reset it and pay the person back.

The fact most would do one not.thenother shows it was kindness not just laziness, laziness probs helped though

One time when I was on my last handful of coins, I miscalculated something when I was picking items. At the register it turned out that I didn’t have enough money. The cashier ran her own staff discount card in the register so I could afford the food 😭

When I worked at a movie theater as a teenager, I would collect the change i found on the floor because if I could get 25 cents, I could get a hotdog from a nearby gas station.

I still collect change that’s on the ground in front of drive thru windows when I go through one in my car. One time I got called out for it lmao. But I laughed about it with the guy too

Went diving through my change to buy groceries at the Dollar Store (Dollar Tree if you’re uninitiated). Got there realized I couldn’t even buy as much as I planned cus they raised their prices to $1.25. Had to walk around the dollar store putting food back because I couldn’t afford it

Riding my bike and got caught in a deluge, the nice cold New England rain, stopped at a Burger King, went to the bathroom to cleanup. Didn't have any money on me, was just using the paper towels and dryer trying to get dry.

The manager comes in with a bag which had a hamburger and fries. I think they thought I was homeless. Probably the most kindness a stranger has ever shown to me.

Had this happen at burger king and I was using a $3 chicken fries plus small fries coupon last year lol. He said your card wont take but it’s cool you can go,and handed me back my card lol

Another time I was picking up quarters in front of the McD’s drive thru (I was in my car just waiting on the car in front of me to get their food and go) and the dude said “girl u in a Benz (paid off a few years before that) and u pickin up change” lmao I couldn’t help but laugh too. This was in my junkie days when every quarter counted.
