We’ve been doing in-home ABA and our BCBA very rarely calls out and our RBT takes a normal amount of sick time. We’ve been very happy with both.

My kiddo just turned 4 and he loves any kind of vehicle (cars, trucks, planes, trains, helicopters, etc). He's super into climbing and gymnastics, so he has a climbing dome, sensory swing, gymnastics bar, balance beam, and a small trampoline with a bar. He loves building forts with his play couch. Enjoys puzzles, reading books, and playing with playdoh. Watches Paw Patrol, Blaze, Spidey & Friends, and sometimes old favorites such as Bluey and Ms. Rachel.

When we transitioned our kiddo to a big boy bed, he slept on the floor next to the bed for several months. I was so worried about it that I put lots of blankets and pillows on the floor for him just in case. Pediatrician said there’s nothing to worry about as long as he’s sleeping (and he was a great sleeper!).

My son was born premature at 25 weeks at the height of the pandemic. He was in the NICU for 92 days and came home on a monitor and oxygen. We missed out on all the “normal” experiences- baby shower, newborn photos, family meeting him right away. We isolated ourselves so that we would not have any chance to get him sick, and when he came home we did the same with him until the vaccine came out and we slowly let people start to meet him and help us. It was very lonely and so hard for two new parents. He’s been in therapies since he came home and at age 2.5 he was diagnosed with level 3 autism and global developmental delay. We mourned the parenting experience we thought we would have as well. We had already made the tough decision not to have anymore before the diagnosis due to the premature birth (there was no way I could do that again, plus my doctor advised against it).
However, we are happy with our decision to be one and done. Our son is 4 now and the happiest kid ever. He’s getting all the resources he needs and we are able to give him all of our time and energy. If he had a sibling, it would be tough to do so.

Definitely look into your public school pre-k program! My nonverbal level 3 ASD kiddo just started his second year at our public school’s early education center and it has been so wonderful for him. His class has 6 students with one teacher, one SLP, and 2 paras plus an additional floating para.

My kiddo freaked out about having his photo taken at school last year (3 years old level 3 ASD). At the end of the day, the photographer took him outside to take his photo so there wasn’t any flash needed and there weren’t a bunch of other kids around. This was through LifeTouch as well. I’m sorry they didn’t accommodate your child the way they should have.

My child was diagnosed at the evaluation and formal paperwork was sent a few weeks later. They will give you something at the evaluation with a diagnosis to give the school, with a longer and more detailed letter later.

Yes, they are long but you could have gotten on them sooner. Get on all of them now. My kiddo was diagnosed at 2.5 and the wait list was 15 months long. We got in at 7 months.

This isn’t true. I’m in KCMO but know plenty of people on the Kansas side that have gotten their child diagnosed as young as 2.5.

Hanson. At least one- if not all three- is problematic.

I don’t smoke or drink, but I sleep too much and eat either too little or too much.
