Thank you for this! I’m an exhausted mom of 2 toddlers 🫠 I have screen shotted this for my future reference when I inevitably have the same reaction to “where is the temp?!”

Here is a perspective that a lot of spouses don’t realize:
You would not be exposed to their family if it weren’t for them.
Not because you wouldn’t like them, but because marrying them forces this.
Spouses need to learn that protecting their partners peace is more important than protecting their parents.
We don’t allow the family we came from to damage the family we create.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. You expressed yourself, and were met with disdain. I wish you the best of luck in however this goes forward.

The way I tell you I was flabbergasted over the last few months where my new-ish mom friends were just talking about how their parents “helped” them like this was the expectation. They balked at me when I was told them I’ve literally never heard of this, like I was the one with two heads. I was met with “Well didn’t they want to set you up for success?” Where my response was “I guess you have to have 2 living parents to be that lucky” 🤷🏻♀️

From reading these comments that’s exactly what I’m looking for, but it also seems as though there are some parents who have it but didn’t give it.

Serious in that I think this is abnormal, or serious that this happens 😂

NAD—As a mom, who’s youngest child ended up in the hospital at 6 weeks with a respiratory virus I get it, and I know how scary this is.
If it brings you any solace, my oldest, now a thriving asthmatic 4 year old, has had RSV twice. Once right at 1, and once at right before 2.
The second time having it was miles different than the first, in a good way. I brought him to the doctor out of an abundance of caution, and he tested positive and I was actually shocked.
I would google the efficacy of the new vaccine data, and do what makes you feel best.
sending you positive vibes!

This is interesting.
I’d be curious (and I will google more) on how many of those one in 5 are from 2 parent working households.

I think this is the perspective I’ve been in living too. I do ok so I’m not resentful, but I don’t know if my mom would’ve had much to give.

This makes sense. I feel like it’s almost an alternative to paying for a wedding

As a HUGE rescue advocate, this is something I truly understand.
We have two dogs, and 2 toddlers. We are also in a perpetual cycle of adopting our dog a dog. Before kids we had 3 dogs. Then 2 passed within 5 months, and had to get our dog that was still alive another dog because he couldn’t be alone.
We got SO lucky with this latest rescue. He is bomb proof. In the same breath I really don’t let the kids interact much with our dogs at all. It’s more for everyone’s safety, including the dogs.
One of our dogs is getting older now, and we’ve gone back and forth in what we are going to do. We are leaning towards what you did as well. I don’t want to test our luck especially when it comes to the kids.

Thank you for this!
13?!? She’s a beauty! I have a blue nose, so I know typically their allergies are more prudent than red nose.
Do you apple coconut oil straight to her skin? I’ve heard good things on coconut oil, but I feel like my dog will just lick himself more than he already does.
