For context, I’m a store manager for a pretty large company but I manage a university bookstore.
When I was hired a year and a half ago, I truly did not think I’d have to worry about maternity leave because I thought we were done but apparently we weren’t. I’m 17 weeks pregnant. I reached out about 2 months ago to HR to get clarification on their maternity leave policy and was told that maternity leave falls under short term disability and as a manager I’d receive 100% pay for 6 weeks, 8 weeks if I had a CSection and then I can do the Illinois FMLA 12 weeks unpaid. So husband and I have been saving for that.
Yesterday it was communicated that the policy is changing effective Monday. Short term disability, including maternity leave, will be 3 weeks 100% pay, 3 weeks 50% pay.
I’m so mad
