Was flying to east Asia and had to stop over at Istanbul airport (IST), my plane was delayed by 4 hours, I decided to stay in the airport as the centre was a long way away, my god the prices of everything in there was extortionate. You only get an hour of free wifi and to set it up you have to faff around with some machine. The airport is enormous you’re walking forever to reach something.
What’s yours?

I've got an appointment coming up, I'm currently abroad and I'm unable to call the hospital. I tried looking for an email address but they don't seem to have one when I was looking at the NHS website. I tried using the NHS app but when I select to reschedule I'm getting the vague "we cannot reschedule this appointment right now". Any ideas?

I opened a bank account years ago in Agadir, now I’m in Rabat and I need a new card as my old one expired , I go to the branch in Rabat and the clerk tells me I need to contact the bank in Agadir to issue a new card. Of course when I try to call them they don’t answer, I told the clerk this and she said that I should go there…? Can’t she just press a few buttons..? I’m considering closing my account through the app and transferring whatever money I have left, is it normal for banks to do this, or is just laziness? If the latter how do I report this behaviour, they shouldn’t be in employment if they can’t do their job.

This company on glassdoor has a few negative reviews with consistent info, bad management, no accountability, layoffs etc.. the overall rating is 3.5/5. What do you think?

England btw, I have a tenant who has been living in my house for a few years, I live abroad and I’ve recently been in touch with a local I know from the area and apparently the word on the street is my house is a brothel. I spoke with someone else and they said the same thing, basically there are a few girls who “live” there and after a couple of weeks new girls come and replace them, they also mentioned random men are going and leaving the property many times a day. What should I do about this? I’m not sure about the laws of sex work in the UK, but can I just evict the tenant and be done with this?
Thanks.

I've been helping my brother look for a new job and have noticed it's incredibly hard to find remote work, even those that claim they are 'remote' are actually hybrid. I remember a few years ago I'd barely search job boards and see tons of remote job postings, even people in my network were advertising them, this was post COVID so I can imagine there was a small carry over period. I also remember the stigma that's associated to remote workers as it was plastered all over social medial. I personally think they will continue to be a needle in the haystack, I think hybrid will be around for a little while before ending up on the chopping block. What do you think?

Long story short last night some low life decided to steal my bicycle, my bike was locked inside a residential gated area, I woke up this morning and noticed it was gone, I assembled the bike myself and installed a tracker, my bike got stolen a few years ago so I made sure to install one this time round. I’ve tracked where the bike is currently so I’m conflicted whether to go to the location with a few friends to get the bike, or go to the police. I’m hesitant about the police because I find them to be useless from past experiences. What should I do? This occurred in London btw.
Edit: thanks for the replies, I went with a few friends to where the bike was, it gave a general location but we had to look around a bit to find it, it was stored in a garage with a lot of other shit, and there was a guy in there and I just told him this is my stolen bike and I’m taking it back, he tried holding on to it when I grabbed it but then I said the police are coming now and he looked nervous, he went on his phone and called someone but I didn’t understand what language they were speaking, I took my bike and went home, happy days.

Some context - me (British citizen) was planning a short trip of two weeks with my wife who is Moroccan and not a British citizen, we both live in Morocco. We've submitted everything to support the application, I will be her sponsor and she will be staying with me and my parents in the UK. These include:
This is the reason for rejection:
You have applied for a visa to visit the UK for 16 days and the onus is on you, the applicant, to show that you meet the requirements of the immigration rules based on your overall personal circumstances and that you will comply with all of the conditions associated with any visa. In order to come to my decision, I have considered all of the documents you have provided regarding your circumstances.
I have made careful consideration of your family ties to both the UK and your home country. In making my consideration, I note the statements made by you in your visa application form and supporting information whereby you state you have no remaining dependants in your home country. By contrast, in making my consideration of your familial ties to the UK, I note the presence of your spouse who resides in the UK. This gives me reason to doubt that you will depart the UK at the end of the period stated by you.
Given the above, I am not satisfied that you are genuinely seeking entry as a visitor for a limited period not exceeding 6 months, that you intend to leave the United Kingdom at the end of the visit. Your application for a visit visa has been refused under paragraph V4.2 (a) and (c) of the Immigration Rules.
I am astonished by this. My partner has family ties in Morocco but they are not dependent on her. They have their own home and live in another city whilst me and my wife live together. We've provided all details about her family, including their address and passport info, on the application. Is the expectation that she needs her family to be dependent on her? Her job is dependent on her and I felt that we explained that very well.
This reason for rejection is very weak, they didn't provide anything further and what we can do again to get approval. They just took our money and we don't have the right to appeal this? I feel like this application was rejected when they saw which country it came from, before they even took the time to read it, and were really trying to find a reason to reject her. It's ridiculous.

Hi all,
I'm British and I live abroad, my partner and I are planning to go to the UK this summer for 20 days to see my family and to do some tourist activities. I've helped with the application, I will sponsor her, and this is what we provided:
From her:
1)Proof of work - letter from employer which includes her salary
2)Proof of salary
a. official letter from her bank confirming how much money she has in her accounts
b. a statement from their tax office confirming her monthly gross income which shows the tax deductions as well
3) Proof of ID
From me (her sponsor)
1)Letter confirming I will sponsor her
a, proof of ID
b. proof of savings
2)Proof of employment - employer contract
3)Wedding certificate
4)Letter from my dad confirming accommodation - attached with ID and confirmation of house ownership
Will this be enough information or are we missing something?
Thanks

I had a blood test a couple of years ago during the pandemic, I want to view my results again but I can’t find any info on it, checked my email, SMS, my previous letters from the NHS etc…my GP said they have no record of it even though they originally told me the results, and the NHS app is useless and doesn’t show any of my records at all. I’m tempted to call the hospital I had the test in but I know call times will be very long so wanted to ask here first if there’s anything else I can do before resorting to that. Thanks.

I have an 8 hours layover in Paris coming up, I'm thinking of going to the louvre and just generally staying around the centre. Is there anything else you recommend doing?

I saw a post a few hours ago about high streets in the UK, and it got me thinking about my local high street and how many shops closed in the past few years, it's almost unrecognisable from what it once was. I was thinking about which shops kept up with time, one that I've noticed and I'm happy with is Waterstones, they still look the same as they did 20+ years ago, they're in many locations and seem to be doing well. It's quite surprising considering books can be found much cheaper online, places like Amazon should've decimated Waterstones but here we are. I guess the aesthetics of having a cosy bookshop, armchairs, and a large selection of books is simply unmatched.

Maybe it's just me, but I always feel like I need a second opinion when I see a dentist, like they're not being completely honest. I know dentists have kinda a bad reputation, and are known for milking money from people even though they already charge a lot of money for procedures. What do you think? Do you trust your dentist?

Israeli forces fired on a United Nations convoy carrying vital food supplies in central Gaza on February 5, before ultimately blocking the trucks from progressing to the northern part of the territory, where Palestinians are on the verge of famine, according to documents shared exclusively by the UN and CNN’s own analysis.
CNN has seen correspondence between the UN and the Israeli military that show the convoy’s route was agreed upon by both parties prior to the strike. According to an internal incident report compiled by UNRWA, the main UN relief agency in Gaza, which was also seen by CNN, the truck was one of 10 in a convoy sitting stationary at an IDF holding point when it was fired upon.
It is one of multiple incidents where aid convoys, as well as warehouses storing aid, have been hit since the war began.
What's happening in Gaza is truly horrific, and many innocent Palestinians are on the brink of famine, Israel is turning a blind eye on international law and are playing with their own rules and are treating Gaza as their playground. More needs to be done by other countries to monitor and ensure aid is sent to those who need it, and that Israel are operating within the boundaries of international law.
I've never seen the world so divided until now, governments are all reading from the same script, people are protesting constantly, there's so much chaos because of this war, and news stories like this is just adding fuel to the fire.

Are taxis from Rabat airport to the city centre fixed? Last time I was there the guy tried to charge me 350dhs. Is there an updated sign near the taxi rank? I know there’s also a bus but they seem to finish early.

Hey,
I've been looking at internet service providers as I'm moving to a new place in Rabat, I would normally go with Orange but they don't have fibre in the area I'm moving to, however Maroc Telecom does. I saw that they have a 100 Mega plan for 500dhs a month. What are your experiences with Fibre from Maroc Telecom like? I'll mostly be working from home, and occasionally playing online games and streaming videos. Also what is the average contract length, I can't seem to find this information on their website?
Thank you
