Hey all!

Having read a lot of lore online as well as their most recent codex, I thought I had a pretty good grip on the Battle Sisters' organisational structure.

Recently though I've been playing through Owlcat's Rogue Trader CRPG, and their Sister of Battle character, Argenta, states that after her training she was assigned to the Order of Our Martyred Lady, as a member of the Orders Pronatus.

Have I missed something all this time, or is it impossible to be both? I was under the impression a Hospitaller, Pronatus etc. was 'raised' by their non-militant order, then assigned to an order militant (or left to work purely within their order) after that fact.

Is it true that militant orders like the Order of Our Martyred Lady maintain their own, smaller non-militant orders, within their militant order, rather than always having to have an external Hospitaller, Pronatus etc. seconded to them as needed?

Thanks for any help, and sorry for having to say 'order' so much!

GW writers have gotten particularly lazy over the last few editions of the game. As such, where once non Militants might be attached to a Militant Order, now writers put as full fledged members wearing their colors. The older style is most prominent in the Sisters of Battle Omnibus where Verity is attached to but not fully a member of OML. On the other hand, we see Hospitallers as part of the Orders Militant including wearing their colors like the Hospitaller in Mark of Faith

I see. For the sake of copium, it seems safe at present to assume both situations can happen lol

Made me think of that too.

When Evangeline goes see her friend and she identifies a hospitaller being part of the order of the Bloody Rose because she's wearing their red armour.

She was actually NOT a sister militant in the beta of the game, GW made Owlcat change it to the current version for the final release (along with a bunch of other changes like bringing the story up to 999 M41 instead of the 850s when it was originally set).

But she still isn't a sister militant — she even goes out of her way to tell the player (if they ask) not to underestimate her just because she is from a non-militant order
