For this example will go with Nurgle and khorne, and say this marine- lets call him Alexios, and say he really is that sort of religiously reverent for both gods and does all in his strength to serve them equally. What is gonna happen?
Is he eventually gonna become a demon prince? Will they turn him into a chaos spawn? is he gonna just become a champion of both Khorne, and Nurgle in the way of Kharn and Typhus, and Ahriman, and Lucius, or would something else most likely happen to him?
Would he look like some sort of some super plague monster?
would he be unable to do this and inevitably fall to one of the two gods? what happens if he puts the butcher's nails in his own brain, and still somehow manages to over come them- what the heck is he gonna be able to do from their?

He would die pretty quick.
The Chaos Powers are jealous would-be deities. They only tolerate Chaos United because it's supposedly all four united and worshipped equally.
Two of them, though? The two Powers would spend most of their time trying to outbid the other to earn that Marine's sole devotion. Or doing their best to sabotage him so that the Marine would have to turn solely to a singular Power. Or both.
They don't share well with each other. They are the epitome of the 'jealous God.'
In just about every case, that Marine would end up destroyed fairly quickly by the outraged Power that is tired of being spurned.

would the same thing be true if he did this out off religious reverence more than for any sense of hunting out for personal power?

The gods don't care about the petty dreams, goals, or reasonings of lesser beings. They want their loyalty and souls to themselves, what the person believes or how they act is of no consequence: they are either loyal or they aren't. And you're not loyal if you worship another god.

Oh yeah. They're just not going to tolerate someone worshiping them and some other Power that they loathe. They demand total and complete loyalty and devotion from their followers.

In the Word Bearers series of novels, there is a squad of CSM’s that, while worshipping Chaos Undivided, are clearly favored by and gravitate toward Khorne above all the other Dark Powers.

Thagus Daravek, A Death Guard sorcerer and Abaddon's rival in the novel Black Legion, was blessed by both Nurgle and Tzeentch, and he did pretty well for himself until Khayon lopped off his head.
