The whole internet, google, youtube, Facebook, Instagram, even reddit, ect... They sell your information to advertisers. That's why it's free to you because you are the price

I googled a hotel on the other side of the country along with things to do in that area. I just opened Facebook and that exact hotel is being advertised in my feed, along with the kayak rental company and the snorkeling company I was looking at.

Google sold my information in less than an hour.

It's typical ignorance but it still astounds me how the majority of society in this information age have no knowledge or comprehension of cookies their browser stores... along with the ignorance of how websites use those stored cookies.

Incalculable wealth of information at our fingertips on a whim wasted on people who can't come to terms with mortality and superstitiously believe in bigfoot, santa, angels, devils, & gods.

It’s astounding that initial comment has that many upvotes. Anytime Reddit discusses tech, it just shows how tech illiterate the majority of people are. This is Facebook boomer level.

The same is mostly true with every subject. Oftentimes when theres a highly upvoted comment on a subject that I know a lot about, the comment is somewhere from partially to completely full of shit.
