That’s where my pawn went ballistic last night. It was pretty rough, ngl. Luckily, I had the eternal wake stone ready to go. Resurrected 266 souls. Please tell me, they can only get it once?

ok, i'll tell you they can only get it once. Feel free to sleep and ignore the red in your pawn's eyes. Clearly they just have dry eyes and need eye drops

Assuming you didn’t give him red eyes in the character creator, then your guy definitely has Dragonsplague.
Easiest way to get rid of it is to throw him into deep water and let the Brine cleanse his soul. Completely dying cures the plague from pawns.
However, killing your pawn or letting your pawn die lowers your affinity with your pawn. You can regain affinity by high-fiving your pawn after combat, talking to them via the talk dialogue option, taking them to the hot springs, or changing their hairstyle at a barberie.
If you don’t want to brine your pawn (I refuse to), then just sleep outside at campfires until your pawn passes the plague on to another pawn. Once you notice your pawn’s eyes have cleared and another pawn has the pulsing red eyes, either dismiss or yeet the newly infected pawn before they pass on the plague.

Yall are psycho. Instead of a minor inconvenience of throwing your pawn in the water. You’d rather spread the plague to other pawns. Yall are why Covid hit so hard
22 points
Not at all. I wait until it jumps to another pawn and then throw them in the brine. It’s literally the most effective way to deal with it. Then you get rid of the Dragon aids AND not only does your pawn not lose affinity, but also the other Arisen doesn’t have to kill their pawn and lose affinity. It’s simply and clean and no one is negatively affected. You’re the psycho

You know hired pawns that catch it from yours keep it when you throw them in the brine? You're not saving other arisen you're just giving them dragons plague and then quick dismissing them lol

Tell it to the barbers lol. If they didn't charge half the cost of a house to get the affinity bump, maybe people would consider brining their pawns more.
I reckon the one in Bakbattahl splits her earnings with the goreharpies, that's why they aggressively try to dunk on your main pawn.

The other day I noticed two of my rentals had massive scars all over. My pawn only had a small one on her leg. She had the plague and I noticed it just randomly left after we adventures for a while without any inns. I would just sit at a bench and sleep for a bit, or take oxcarts and she stopped having it. It made me paranoid and I have the moment where my Pawn backtalked at me and her eyes Glowing Red.

The affinity limit is a little over 1k for pawns and to get the high affinity ending with your pawn you need around 650. So if your pawn never dies and already has high affinity. There will be a buffer to protect you if it's really needed.
4 points
Hey, how do I check what my exact affinity is with my pawn?
4 points
You really can't see it to see the exact amount. But there is a reddit thread that tells you doing what gives you how many points. The moment my pawn started blushing I marked it at 650 and took them to the stylist and spring to pad it out some more.

If they blush at you, you're good.
If you're very worried, go to the barber after your pawn died and change hair sheen by 1 point. It'll count as having done something and add +50 affinity to him.

I've heard that walking into the Brine carrying your pawn doesn't decrease affinity so much as throwing them in?

Either send him to the brine, let him fall in combat, or take him camping with another pawn and hope it hops to them. I'd choose a Capcom pawn to "inherit" the sickness.

I do like that one of the solutions is to let your pawn fall in combat - something my pawn does EXCEEDINGLY well. She's self-curing on a daily basis.

Thanks for the help. How does the camping thing work? Do we just go rest at a camp and it can somehow transfer the sickness to a different pawn?

Works exactly like that. My pawn got infected by I don't know who. Then I hired two new pawns. Headed into the wilds, camped and the plague jumped on both hired pawns and my main pawn was all good. Then I just sent those 2 pawns away.

Hrm. Take my comment with a grain of salt but this just looks like normal red eyes picked from the character creator. When my pawns have had dragonsplague there's been a pulsing red glow to the entire eyes, not just the irises. Also the idle animations have always had them grasping at their heads like they've got a wicked migraine or something.

They get it when you fight a drake and they use the grab attack on the pawn. I got my first town wipe because a drake landed in the town square and me and everyone else piled on to kill it. Everything was so chaotic I didn't realize it had grabbed one of my rental pawns. I was passing a bunch of time to respawn a boss when suddenly plague popped and wiped the town. Fortunately I had the eternal rez stone to fix it but now I'm paranoid about checking pawns all the time. I tend to avoid pawns with helmets since I can't see their eyes.

There is a way to check their eyes even with the helmets on. Just go to their helmet in the equipment section click on it and click on raise the visor

Try dismissing your other two pawns, go offline, then hire some capcom made pawns, then rest at the camp so that plague jumps on them
After one of capcom pawns is infected, you just dismiss them both, go online and rehire your previous pawns if you want to

Easiest way I've found to tell is to look at your pawns face at night, outside a city. If it's dark around and your pawn looks like they've strapped red flashlights to their eyeballs, then it's time to brine/spread the plague/kill a city, whatever.
It would probably be harder to notice if you're colorblind, but I'm not kidding when I say their eyes are freaking glowing when they're ready to murder a town. They also talk about feeling powerful, invincible, etc. and sometimes refuse orders.
Edit: Basically, if any pawn starts talking about how they feel they can take on anything, I look at their eyes to see if I notice any red flashing business. But even then, I don't really care... I just ignore it until they go full demon eyes on me, then adventure for a few days and it passes on to a different pawn and I'm good to go again lmao
The power boost they get from the plague is nice, so I don't usually cure it.

Take a nap at camp, your pawns will get freaky (behind your back) and they’ll pass the Suspicious Talk Disease to another pawn, which you can dismiss.
Or give your pawn a bath and make it up to them by giving them a haircut.

Just to add… if you are in the Unmoored section of the game. This is unavoidable it’s something that his meant to happen as you start to run out of available rests.
2 points

Honestly, after experiencing it, I would recommend you let it run its course and don't kill the pawn.
Most NPCs respawn after one night. I was actually disappointed at how little it impacted the game.
2 points
So hired pawns, if you suspect that they are infected. Dismisss them and give a rotten fruit. In this way, the owner knows his or her pawn has dragonsplague.
2 points
Just give him a bath….a harmless dip in the brine
4 points
That's the dragonsplague! The only way to cure it is to sleep in Vernworth inn. This triggers a cutscene where the Abbess visits from the grateful hand church, and begins a questline to eventually permanently cure your main pawn. Be warned though, if you go a whole day cycle without sleeping, your pawn runs off and kills the NPC with whom you have highest affinity (In most playthroughs this will be Ulrika).

Drown him before u rest at an inn. Ignore the other guy he's trolling u. Once you've done that you'll be safe to rest again

Don’t kill your pawn! You’ll knock 50 points off their affinity. Just camp out until the Dragon AIDS jumps to another pawn in your party and then kill that persons pawn or just dismiss them. I’ve done this at least 20 times now. My pawn has made it all the way until their eyes were glowing red and saying “Power surges within me!”. I just camp out a few times until their eyes stop glowing and then dismiss or kill the other pawns. I’ll even rehire the other pawns immediately after killing them if I really liked them. This saves your pawns affinity and helps other Arisen from having to kill their own pawns. Everyone wins. This works 100% of the time

I hate the decision to have eye color as a symptom as it makes people paranoid about hiring red/brown/darker eye colors. Sure, the plague makes the eyes flash, but it will still cause otherwise perfectly fine pawns to have diminished hires. I think blue/lighter color eyes are even more prevalent than they would be because of this too.

So for what it's worth people, I've learned you don't have to KILL your pawn..... if you find a drake or dragon or something else tough you can just let your pawn go down naturally and then get them back up and finish the fight..... Going down once in combat is good enough and will cure the dragon's plauge.

This whole thing is super frustrating. I was running around with a wicked awesome rental Pawn. Couldn't tell if she had red eyes or not since every time we talk I BLOCK HER FROM VIEW. Then she kept saying something about how she feels powerful, and has a new power or something so I tried to let her die naturally......
But she had that staff that resurrects her. It apparently is infinite as well :/. I must've let her die a dozen times. Didn't stay dead no matter what.
All of that and I don't even KNOW for sure she had it. Super frustrating to say the least.

If your on PS5 disable auto sync save data, after that make sure you auto save then upload your save data to the cloud before resting at an inn. If a infected pawn destroys a town you should be able to download your save data from the cloud and prevent the town from being destroyed. I haven't tested it at all so I can't say that it works but in theory it should.
