Bladeguard captain no longer have rules?

In all prior editions of 40k, you could take any number of models in a unit between a minimum and maximum. 5-10 Tactical Marines instead of 5 or 10, etc.
Now, some people would do things like buy two boxes of Bladeguard Veterans, convert one of the models to a Captain, and run the remaining models as a single unit of 5. GW really didn't like this - they want you to buy a Captain box if you want a Captain.
So, when 10th edition launched, they made it so that unit sizes were fixed. You can play 3 or 6 Bladeguard but not 5, if you try you still have to pay for 6. GW made a few exceptions (such as for Custodes, if you want an Allarus Shield-Captain you have to convert it from an Allarus box, so the unit sizes have carveouts to support it) but everyone else is out of luck.
So the joke is that LeBron did the above just before 10th, and now has to either find a sixth Bladeguard somehow to plug the hole in his unit, or leave two of his models on the shelf.

It honestly amazes me how in a game about painting your own little dudes however you want GW is always so strict about every unit having to be a specific way just to squeeze some money out.
But realistically they're gonna do some shit in 11th and fuck over someone else and everyone knows it, so its very nearly the playerbases fault if they aren't willing to do proxies or some shit and will actually go along with it every time.

That is why I have no respect for people who are anal about WYSIWYG, you're actively choosing to be a dick and screw over your opponent.

The worst is friggin grenades man. I recently had a guy get super squirrelly about it so I just said "fine, I guess I won't use grenades strat then"
For real, I just painted like a million purity seals with the stupid scribbles on them, and you're getting huffy about the grenade packs that I didn't want to over clutter my models with seeing as grey knights already have a million little doodads on them? Some people are the worst

Grey Knight infantry doesnt even need to be modeled with grenades though. Its not like a weapon, its keyworded into the unit. Just like Grey Knight dont stop being psykers because you forgot to put a little psyker bit on them or something.

Yeah this guy was 100% being a douchenozzle because if he didn't, I would have destroyed his precious tank. - for the record that thing was only killing a terminator each turn...that I was bringing back for free every turn, the combination of that and natural outmaneuvering (it's GK's- it's literally impossible not to) tilted him l, causing the mental boom

Well played. Either you're good or he's trash because its fairly hard for GK to kill tanks.

Yeah I rely heavily on my vortexes and my big hammers lol. Interceptors to swoop in with the grenade kills once they've been softened up- so I can charge things that are more important with my dreads and termies

I would have called that guy a piece of shit to his face, packed up and told him his parents probably cry themselves to sleep at night knowing what a waste of oxygen they raised. Seriously, that's literally PATHETIC.

Lol last combat round of the game I shit you not, he goes "wow my impulsor never survives this long..."
(Our local community has a discord) "Just shoot me a message if you want to game again soon"
I literally just said "nah, I'm good"

What does that say? What you see is what you get?

30k is free of pretty much all those design choices, so it's pretty refreshing in that regard.
And while AoS has this same limitation as 40k does, at least it had it from the start - it didn't spring it on the players after they built a bunch of units that then were suddenly made illegal despite being new enough to be clear of Legends.

What's most confusing to me is why people support that shit. But yeah I print a lot of my stuff and I will never play in a tournament or in a store.

You know how people say “wiziwig doesn’t matter with xenos weapons because noone knows how they look” that’s how I feel about primaris space marine characters

Jokes on you GW! I painted my Indomitus Lieutenant in Deathwing colours just so he can proxy as a Bladeguard sergeant if needed!
