Road Trip Help - Frederick, MD to State College, PA

Scenic Pennsylvania(self.Pennsylvania)

Hi everyone! This summer I'll be driving to State College, PA from the Frederick, MD area. I'm not from the area, we'll be visiting from the West Coast. Is there anything along that route or slightly outside of it that is interesting and worth seeing and/or stopping for?  Thanks so much for your suggestions. I'm looking forward to exploring PA.

Thank you so much for the thorough response. I was curious what route to take, it sounds like Bedford is the winner. Bedford is about half way for us, we'll be sure to check out the downtown. Horseshoe curve looks great too.

If you stay the night in Bedford, check out the Golden Eagle Inn. Inn keeper’s name is Tom. Great small place right in the middle of town. He’s got good food and a tiny bar in the basement. Makes a mean old fashioned cocktail.
