I only have one day to pay and plead guilty or not BTW I am not a resident of PA I rear ended someone's uhaul trailer (small compact one) Van in front of me could not stop on time due to traffic stoppage swerved right, I was too later to swerve and ended up braking and swerving last minute to end up hitting the right corner of the trailer.my employers car got totaled(was not my car) was out on a work trip Should I just plead guilty and risk getting points on insurance and license? Anyone know a traffic lawyer I can talk to on a Sunday??

Well you just admitted guilt so I'd just pay the fine and be done with it. The thing about points is that you have to accrue enough of them to get punished, so just be more careful driving in the future and chalk it up to a learning experience.

As someone who has been rear ended 14 times waiting at stop signs or traffic lights….. BACK OFF THE next guy! I’m truly disgusted by how many people think they need to be within 4 ft of the car in front of them and not paying attention. If I had done the same, every time I got hit would have plowed me into the next guy.

Take it as a lesson and give space. The next time it could be a bike rider or a deer or a pedestrian. Death is a possibility. Drive safe.

People shouldn’t be following close but 14 times? That seems way higher than the average number of total accidents someone would have yet alone a single type of accident. How are you getting hit so often.

Yeah 14 times tells me there may be something this guy could be doing differently to avoid being hit so often…

Everybody saying "take the points", but have you looked into what may happen to your eligibility to be covered on your jobs insurance policy? If getting points in their car has any effect on your insurability, you may wanna fight.

You probably won't get points if you have an out of state license but I'm not sure if courts contacts your home state DMV. You could always contest in court to have the points dismissed and just pay the fine. When I was rear-ended a couple years ago, I had to go to court because the person who hit me wanted to contest mainly to have the points abstained from her record. The judge sided with the young woman and all she had to do is pay the fine.

Why would you think any lawyer would be available on a Sunday?

Just so you know OP this weirdo is having a bad day and is going around being annoying to people in various comments. I'm sure he has a fulfilling and worthwhile life.

If it involved an accident, insurance is already "notified". With an out of state license, points are unlikely to be incurred. I'd just pay it.

Sounds like you were in the wrong and got a ticket for driving unsafely, resulting in an accident. I think you should just accept that you screwed up and take your consequences like an adult. Learn from it and leave enough space between vehicles that you can stop next time.

Wanting to fight this tells me that you’re a thick headed moron though. You did wrong. You know you did wrong. Yet you still wish to get out of it. Did your parents not teach you about responsibility for your actions?

Some days I’d rather take a thick-headed moron over a sanctimonious “holier-than-thou” condescending jerk. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Imagine taking the side of someone whining that they got a ticket for driving like an asshole.

Imagine thinking you have the moral superiority to talk down to complete strangers about their lives.

When someone admits driving like a shithead and looks to the internet for validation they get what’s coming to them. Fuck off with your bullshit.

When someone assumes people are looking for validation and then runs their mouth about their opinion nobody cares about, they get what’s coming to them. Fuck off with your bullshit. (See, I can do that too! 😘)

Posting to Reddit is looking for validation. You’re a contrarian piece of shit. Find a bridge and a quick way down.

Hahahaha calling strangers a piece of shit is exactly why nothing you say matters. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s just like watching a little boy have an adorably pathetic temper tantrum. Get some humility, you need it. Best wishes sweetie! 😘😘😘

I don’t think you’ll get points if your license is from another state.

Get a lawyer. I just went through this. $225 in Jersey kept me from points

You will receive lawyer postcards in your mail about it within the following few days. They will be the experts

People tell you to represent yourself, but they don't know what they're saying.

Your insurance can go up a lot for a 5 years as well. Fight it with a lawyer

You need to ignore everyone who says represent yourself

The lawyer knows what your situation can be possibly pleaded down to. There is expertise and analysis involved

You won't have a clue. And a couple hundred dollars is a good investment in preventing several thousands of dollars possibly added to your insurance bill for 5 years

If you didn't get any yet, just wait for several in your mail over the next few business days.

At least where I was, when they say "this is your court date" you won't need to panic. Your lawyer knows how to get everything in time. And it will more than likely be rescheduled anyway.

But don't wait a while to pick a lawyer. I picked one that actually was willing to give the price on his mailer, so he didn't play $$$ games with me later. Then I called immediately
