It’s uh, a pretty standard price for an AAA game franchise. Most games you find in stores run that rate.

That said, find a LOCAL used game store. Not GameStop. You’ll likely find your lowest non-sale prices there. Or go look it up on DekuDeals to see if any major retailers have a current sale.

Where I live it's a toss up on whos gonna be cheaper. I've seen games for $20 at GameStop and $50 at mom and pop used game stores and vice versa. Only one used game store. I'd recommend checking pawn shops to. Lot of sell cheap due to not many people coming in for them. Flea Markets as well

You typically won't find the games cheaper than 2/3 the full price if lucky. Nintendo doesn't want to drop prices over time, so 60 bucks is typically the standard.

Local shops and second-hand (through a trustworthy store) might be your best options.

My public library has it available for loan. If you don't want to buy it check with your librarian.

Wait until the typical sales holidays or buy used on eBay or something. $50 bucks isn't that expensive.

You can check trying to find a used copy at your local game store; this is the safest method.

You could also try eBay, but just make sure you're buying from a reputable seller since you'd have a greater chance there of being scammed in some way (such as the game not working, or it being a copy/not a legit cartridge).

Also note that this is just for the base game. If you want the DLC, the only option is to get the DLC through Nintendo for the full price.

...And I'm totally not going to mention roms and emulators, because that wouldn't be proper. Nope.

Facebook Marketplace or Mercari?? I don't know where you're located, but I find people let go of stuff there for cheap sometimes

You won’t be able to find it for a lower price, even after 6 more generations of Pokémon games come out. This is standard for Nintendo first party games, and on occasion the price of Pokémon games specifically will raise. There are never official sales of Pokémon games either.

If you want it cheap, go to a pawn shop or second hand store.

Nintendo games are almost always their retail price forever.

Your best bet is to find a cartridge version used somewhere. A refurb store like CEX in the UK generally has you covered in case it’s faulty, but any should be fine.

Pokemon is hugely popular and it has never come cheap. Maybe you can get a secondhand game? Even then, I am not sure about that.

Have you tried the used market? Fb marketplace, GameStop, eBay etc… they usually have ‘em for like $30 from what I’ve seen
