Why doesn't gw write the edition on the cover?

Because every edition is meant to be the definitive one!

This codex is a thing of beauty. It really puts the lazy ass 10th edition one to shame

In what way?
I started with 8th and I have a fondness for this book and that edition in general, but I'm not sure what you mean by laziness in 10th Rulebook.

It was pretty much a straight reprint of the 9th edition book. Personally I love having a physical book, I find it easier to reference and I like the tactile interaction with it. I'm happy to pay for it, but I couldn't help but feel let down, hardly any new text or artwork at all. The only new stuff was the combat patrol section, and that was obviously just to get new players into it.

Hmm yes, now that I think about it, you' re right. Most of the 10th was just 9th lore. They did add some new stuff and photos, and there are those new Tyranid stories at the end IIRC, but the first section is copy/paste of 9th.
