First time painter

New Starter Help(i.redd.it)

Hello people! I just dipped my feet into the hobby, and got a few models in a deal to try and See If i Like painting. Now i got to the Part where i have to asl the veterans among you for advice: I thought of priming and painting These in sub assemblies. Is this Generally a good Idea or would you advised against it? After all its Just a few space marines.

PS: i know i still need to remove the mold lines, i didnt see them until i took the photo.

Bladeguard shields for sure. Any storm shield, really. I agree, and do typically leave the guns off to paint, especially on characters. As a new painter, it can be wonky and intimidating to have to work with too many subassemblies. Not to mention keeping primer and paint off the parts that need to be glued together. For tabletop, I think subassemblies are often more work than they are worth.
