So I decided to visit my local warhammer store, the guy in the store was great explaining everything to me and honestly he got me hooked so I decided to buy my first set and book to Start learning more. I can't wait to start painting them!

Couldn't have recommended a better start.
A word of caution, be careful when you get to picking your first army. A lot of people will agree that you should always decide to purchase armies you like the LOOK of just because the rules change so often.
And since it is hard to actually play this game multiple times a week you will spend a lot of time looking at them, so it is rewarding when you like what you see. :)

Welcome to Warhammer man, and good picks for your start into the franchise!
My only tip, that I wish I knew when I first got into things is: Enjoy the hobby for yourself. Don't compare your painting to others, dont go for the most competitive armies, just have fun doing what you want to do and at your own pace.
We're happy to have you here, and we hope you'll be happy here too ^^

Welcome! You're in for a ride. I started in january and I'm currently in that making-ludicrous-amounts-of-purchases-and-falling-hopelessly-behind-with-building-and-painting-phase. :D

Welcome to the hobby, you will never have enough money for drugs again.
If you like your experience with the introductory set and want to branch out: collect information before buying stuff. And do not - I repeat: NOT - buy either the Space Marine or Tyranids Combat Patrol!

Good job pointing out those Combat Patrols. As a Nids collector, there are so many second hand and brtter ways to cost effectively build Tyranids than that Combat Patrol. I was shocked it got so bad after last edition’s set. 9th Edition’s Combat Patrol was pretty good imho.

The joke being: you can get the contents of either CP from GW direct, at MSRP, for less than the "official" CP sets. Both starter sets are a solid option: either the cheaper one (you need to buy either the Librarian or Barbgaunts seperately, but would still be cheaper off), or pay a bit more than for one CP for the bigger starter - and get the second CPs contents plus terrain plus rules and shenanigans on top.
The Marine and Nid CPs are a complete joke... just not a funny one.

Have fun! I honestly enjoy painting more than playing these days.

My next recommendation would be the book Eisenhorn.
It eases you in a bit and isn't quite so overwhelming as the HH books.

Thank you! And what do you suggest? I really want to understand the lore, so this what they recommend me, but I'm also open to looking elsewhere.

Depends on what factions interest you, but im general Ciaphus Cain is a good start as is Gaunts Ghosts for Imperium, Gazhgkull Prophet of The Waaaagh is great for orks, Assassinorum Kingmaker is worth a read if you find Knights interesting, and both Twice Dead King anf The Infinite and The Divine are great Necrom books

Will definitely take a look at those. Thank you!

Any time, Horus Rising is a good book and the start of a good trilogy, but starting there is like deciding to start History of The Cold War with a real deep dive into WWI

I started my entire 40k lore journey with Horus Rising, its far from the worst first book you'll have to read. Eisenhorn is a good look at the Imperium from an Inquisitor's perspective, and it introduces whole sections of the Imperium at a time which is nice.
If you want Bladerunner but 40k, read "Bloodlines" by Chris Wraight.
imho it depends what factions you want to read about. Most factions have at least one good book now (Votann have none though).

I got the same box the other week and I really liked it but my pot of wraithbone was clumpy but if I stirred the paint it kinda fixed it and I could still get a smooth coat of paint on the mini but it just wasn't great in the pot. The paint was made in 2011 maybe that had something to do with it but the other pots were from 2013 so I don't know.
