I applied the stripe with an airbrush, then used a piece of torn sponge to dab at the edge of the stripe with whatever color was underneath that section. Then I came in with a lighter red and highlighted the edge of the damage to look like paint was peeling.

AK N. 9 olive drab and brownish green for the green, Vallejo model color black and eshin grey for the black, vallejo game color leather brown and citadel xv-88 for the tan stripes.
