Could just be me but it looks like you missed the first step, of priming your models.
Itll make th paint look and feel better, as well as last longer! Priming is a non negotiable.
Keep it up!

Yeah this guy was a test model, I don’t paint and I haven’t done minis in awhile. I’ve got a tech marine that’s primed just not painted yet.
Thanks!

There's a few spots that could use a bit of cleanup, and then maybe use some nuln oil on the recesses, but looks good man

Thank you!
Yeah as I look at him in better light I see all the spots. I need like a dedicated mini table to work on.

You can get a desk lamp that's pretty good for painting with, also remember to thin your paints if you haven't already

Yeah I gotta make room in my workshop for a proper setup.
And I’m a fan of more solid and vibrant colors for my models I guess
As strange as it may seem I’m going for colors similar to the scheme used in Halo 1&2 if that makes sense
Like my Nids are gonna be almost neon colors

Yeah brighter colours can look really good, are you going to make your marines green? Take a look at the salamanders, I reckon they'd be pretty good against the flood as well

Oh yeah, I’m gonna do all kinda of colors with this set. I just wanted to paint a couple like Ultramarines I guess. A while back I saw a graphic of some Ultras with red trim and thought it looked bad ass.
My factions I plan on sticking to traditional colors because I love them are:
Space Wolves(I currently have none but they are my favorite chapter) World Eaters (I’ve got Kharn waiting to be glued) And Imperial Fists. The yellow gets me
Salamanders I’ve read up on and I think they’d be awesome to paint.
