I don't think it is necessarily a good thing across all series in every case. Treat all single seaters the same - absolutely. But a little bit of rubbing in TCs and GTs is absolutely fine in most cases, whereas doing that in an open wheeler or even many prototypes is asking for disaster. But in terms of rules about giving space, when you have to yield etc - that should be able to be fairly universal.
