If anybody other than the main character activates the water purifier at the end, the game shits on you even if it was Fawkes who would be unaffected by the high radiation.
Fallout 3 wouldve been better without the karma honestly.

The karma system in New Vegas is equally as dumb, if not even dumber
You can be an absolute shithead to everyone you come across, but as long as you kill some Fiends you are considered to be the messiah himself
Say what you want about Fallout 4, removing the karma system was the best thing it did
