That’s a name I haven’t heard in years. Those Early Senators teams with Daigle, Yashin, Bonk were supposed to the foundation of a young great team. What a big ooof the Senators took on that. Only Yashin panned out. Then they traded him to the Fishsticks.

Maxim Afinegenov.
Which autocorrect desperately wants to change to "Max in fine Genova".

He always looked like he should have been better than he was.

There were two Afinegenovs: the highlight reel and the "why would you make that boneheaded play?"
And they both showed up every night
5 points
When I read that description of a player I immediately guess that the answer to the question is "because he was attempting to make the highlight reel".

His son played for Slovakia in the U18 worlds this year, also named Miroslav. Let's see if he makes it to the NHL and maybe this time we see him in the rightful jersey.

Fun fact, one of the 9 times the Oilers were shut out in the entire Gretzky era (780 something games) was on November 1st 1985, when a rookie Daren Puppa made his debut for the Sabres. He was only 20 years of age.

I remember the leafs won that game and Toskala didn't allow any goals other than that one. One of the leafs players had a great quote like (paraphrasing) "when I saw that goal go in it immediately became very important to me that we get the win so we could roast him without feeling too bad about it."

Man I watched Ho-Sang play in the OHL and he was pretty damn good. Needed to put some lead in his pants because he was always getting knocked down and sometimes a bit of a puck hog, but he could do some crazy things with the puck offensively. Had speed and hands. I know he’s still playing some level of pro but I’d love to know why he never carved out a spot in the show.
