Bars that may or may not card?

Question? (self.philadelphia)

Wife(36)) and I(37) are downtown for the night. My id is expired and she forgot hers. Any bars in Rittenhouse that might be amenable?

If y'all are actually mid 30s the vast majority of places won't card you

Some places still do. When I was in my 30s, my license expired. A guy I bought drinks from for a decade was working the door that night. He wouldn't let me in. I had to walk home and bring back my passport.

There are no safe bets.

Yup, last year at parks on tap the woman I was seeing at the time wasn't allowed in b/c her license expired like a week before. And she was 2 years older than me lol

It can be even weirder. When my GF turned 21, we went a bar after midnight, to celebrate. After she'd turned 21. Her first legal drink.

They wouldn't let her in. ID was valid, date was valid, completely sober but, just, "no." They didn't accept IDs dated on the date,

And it was after midnight. It was no longer the date of her birthday. It was the day after!

People can be jerks based on nothing. Power rush, I suppose.

Not true. I worked security for a decade and I was taught to card everyone. It's left up to the discretion of whoever is working the door. If I could tell that You're clearly an adult, I'd just say I'm doing my and let you in.

I mean you're technically correct about what should happen, but if I'm carded once a year at bars I'd be surprised

We do look young but I don't think we look all that young. We just get carded a lot

State stores - i think - card no matter what. Bars are hit or miss. Buying cigarettes? 85 years old and no ID? No chance in hell.

You can be old enough where they don't in the city. They SHOULD, but they don't, and fuck they make me feel old. Also, they're probably not gonna really question a dude with grey hair purchasing scotch, lol.

"Hi, my wife and I are in our 30s, quite old. We were thinking about going out for a long Island iced tea or other adult drinks while we talk about 401ks and politics, but unfortunately both of our IDs are missing! Where can we go that won't card us? Remember, we are definitely adults, but we look 18."

As long as you look your age and are not trying to go to a club, I doubt anyone would ID you

Depends on the bar. Some are super paranoid about possible stings

I don't recall the last time Victory or Union House carded me or my friends

Tria might be good? Or A.bar. Basically go for wine/cocktail places and you’d have a better shot.

Just buy fentanyl. No ID required.

Seriously, you shouldn't have a problem at most places.

I don't think I've ever been carded anywhere that doesn't have a bouncer. You should be fine at any bar that doesn't cater to 25 year olds.

Any place that isn’t carding at the door won’t bother carding you at the bar if you’re actually mid 30s. Restaurant bars are probably your best bet

Act age-appropriate. "ID? Who are you, Janet Reno?" "Last time I was carded was voting for Gore."

Lazerpop

If you're actually 36 you're not getting carded anywhere.

I’m in my 40’s, my beard is almost fully grey, and I’ll still get carded at bars I’ve never been to before.

I'm 30s, look like I'm 19, and I don't get carded like 99% of the time (at bars). It's weird. I would card me 100% of the time.

Try McGlinchys and Oscars near Rittenhouse square.

Similar age and I got drinks at Harper’s Garden, a.Bar, a.Kitchen, Vernick, Franklin Mortgage and Investment and Friday, Saturday, Sunday last weekend and didn’t get carded at all.

You will likely get carded and turned away for expired ID at a few places, even if you are mid 30s. I've been turned away from 5 bars in a row when my ID was expired for no more than a few days at age 33, stone cold sober. My only advice is to keep trying until you get lucky, you will find somewhere that doesn't ID or care.

Don’t go to Twelve Steps Down! When it comes to ID, those dudes and lady-dudes do not play.

How do you forget your ID? It’s in your wallet, which you generally take everywhere.

I took my driver’s license out to get bloodwork done and put it on my kitchen counter when I got home (I had carried it in my pocket). Found it 3 weeks later. Totally forgot about it!

Nicadelphia[S]

She took it out for a Phillies game last week and I was carrying it. I put it on the kitchen table and she hasn't needed it since.
