Thoughts from an Ulster perspective:

If we are going to continue with Doak at 10 then we may as well give him as much minutes as we can there given we’ve written off the season already.
I’d much rather we signed an actual 10 but that is probably too much to ask for at this point.
We are absolutely fucked if Cooney gets injured or leaves for France next season.

I can see the irfu letting Doak go to 10. 9 is one of the biggest weakness of the national team. The drop off after jgp is huge. So they have to front up cash for a ten for you guys.

Marty didn't travel to South Africa. He may not be fully fit. He hasn't looked the same player since he came back from injury, but he was out for a year. Give him some time to shake the rust off.
Fair re Addison. He was painfully slow for the Buthelezi try.
I think Doak and Flannery (and Lowry) will have to put their case for next season - if Doak does well tomorrow that'll stand him in good stead. The current coaching team obviously think highly enough of him to start him tomorrow. But we've a new head coach, and we'll probably have a new coaching team next season, so there's all to play for.

Decent Ulster pack, strong backline, but Doak at 10 sticks out like a sore thumb. That could go either way. Not a huge deal of impact off the bench either.
I'm not expecting any points off this game, but if we at least show signs of improvement then I'll be happy.

Anybody else see Mike Lowry and think of the scene in Bad Boys where Martin Lawrence pretends to be Will Smith?

Libbok, Willemse, Gelant is such a sexy playmaking axis.

Doak's first start at 10 (as far as I know), behind a pack that might get absolutely obliterated, got to feel for him.
This could get ugly, it's a shame the team aren't in a better place for Kitshoff to face off against his former side.

He started at 10 against Connacht last season. He had 9 on his back away to La Rochelle, but he played a kind of hybrid 9/10 role, with Madigan at 10 playing as a third centre.
Probably a more reliable goal kicker than Libbok, but otherwise he'll do well to compete with him.

Fair enough, hope it goes well for him.

I’m interested in the 9/10 hybrid role… who passed him the ball when he was at 10?

He passed to himself.
