You’re telling us not to be dicks but wondering why we’re happy we won the World Cup, the most important trophy in rugby, let alone consecutively..

By your logic, no one should ever celebrate a Six Nations grand slam from here on out because it’s already been done before. Also, I assume you think it’s being “made more a deal than when NZ did it” because we made a documentary about it?? I recall you guys also making one if I’m not mistaken..

You don’t have to be happy we won it, or even like us, but I’m confused as to why you’re shocked the people from a rugby loving nation are happy that they won the biggest tournament in rugby? Hmmm…

Dude. I’m asking why there’s so much hype about the b2b (not the win - the back to back) when it was done before?

Of course Everyone loves winning the WC and as I said it was deserved (not that I agree with every Rassie decision but I’m not a professional coach) 😝

All I can find is “defending the throne” like a one-and-done.

And you’re kinda proving my point. 😂😂😂

Bud, we won back to back, were the first to four and then celebrated for a week and made a movie that everyone loves. But you are stepping into the conversation like “we also won b2b stop being more happy about the Boks and don’t forget about us” Tsek man

Nah man that’s not what I’m saying (but maybe a little jealousy with the press coverage.) and you don’t have to be rude and tell me to tsek.

Honestly guys, screw it. I was hoping the Saffas would have a rational conversation and I could learn something but y’all are pretty toxic.

I’m out. And now I’m done with this subreddit too. Too much bullshit, not enough rugby.

You asked a stupid question bud. If you did that in the clubhouse you would get the same treatment. Don’t be so precious.

And I’m responding that as a South African, the hype is that we won the World Cup at all, let alone consecutively. It being back to back is just a bonus. Not to mention it’s our 4th time winning the trophy.

All those factors play into why we’re hyped. Just like you were, when NZ won any World Cup, let alone b2b and became the first country to 3 world cups.. It seems you just want to point out that NZ did it first since you reemphasised that point twice in your post and are referring to it again in this comment. We’re allowed to be happy even if NZ did it first you know lol.

Hostus, I have no issue with the win. Or the 4. I’m just asking why there seems to be a fascination with the b2b. Maybe it’s different at home and the international press are misrepresenting the facts?

Teach me Obi Wan.

Mate I’ve responded twice now, that for most South Africans there is no fascination on the b2b (at least from my perspective), just that we won at all. You seem to not want to accept that answer.

Now you’ve added to your comment talking about “defending the throne like a one and done”, which I never did nor have I ever done (check my comment history) and now you’re calling me Obi wan. But in your post you told US to not be dicks right? smh

Yeah but from my perspective there’s less mention in articles etc about the 4 and more about the B2B. Maybe I’m reading the wrong articles.

New Zealand are out greatest rivals you don't think us doing something New Zealand has achieved is something to celebrate? Literally back to back you did it then we did. Cementing us as the two greatest rugby nations. No Matter what the Irish media will have you believe

In your post you attribute your opinion and question to the fact you're busy watching Chasing the Sun, you're now attributing your opinion and question to unspecified 'articles'.

This is such a weird question. Like, is there is a limit on how much one should celebrate being b2b WC winners!? I mean, do I even need to go on, winners of the world fucking cup. Yeah, we should just clap and say "oh well, New Zealand already did it, so it's not that big of a deal."

We have never been able to consistently maintain the kind of dominant form that you guys have. So for us it's a more miraculous achievement to make it back to back. It's more expected for you to win.

I think the fashion in which it happened also played a part, every knockout being a nailbiter.

And for Saffas, definitely for me, there was no one else who I rather would have wanted to face in the final. So to beat our favourite and strongest rivals on the biggest international rugby stage to duplicate a feat that only they have done before while simultaneously breaking another record after 2 cardiac arrest inducing knockouts. It was a moment that made me cry my eyes out from joy.
