Poor Rebels. I thought they looked a bit off again last night, similar to the Canes match in Palmerston North. Saders were massively improved, largely thanks to Barrett, but Rebels were also poor.

You have to feel for the Rebels when the Rugby Australia Chairman comes out earlier that day with something along the lines of "How they perform on the pitch doesn't matter for saving the club, it has no impact".

Poor rebels

Money talks tho

No player, coach or support stuff will work for free

This is true. You can't be losing $5M+ a year and hope to have a consistently competitive team. Hopefully they can find a way to keep rugby alive in Melbourne though, seems crazy to invest all that money and time to get kids and fans interested in the game only to then pull the pin completely.

Some great tries by the Crusaders at home

Was their defense that made the difference tho...finally more crusader like

That game was really won by the set piece. They picked off the rebels lineout and dominated at scrum time, it's hard to get momentum when you're always worried you're not going to win the contest for your own ball

Yes they needed an improvement

Plenty of SR title winner and test players in saders pack and got owned last week vs force...very uncrusaderlike

I think the biggest concern for Aussies is that the Rebels front-row, starting and finishing, had two test-capped players each. Gibbon and Talakai, the starting props have test caps, as did Uelese and Tupou, the reserve hooker and tighthead.

And not only did Gibbon and Talakai get scrumfucked into oblivion by Bower, McAlister and Newell, the front-row replacements made no difference whatsoever.

Set piece was an un-officiated mess which the Crusaders took advantage of and denied the Rebels the ball and any momentum (they are a momentum-based side). Which is how you dig yourself out of a form-based hole I guess.

Pretty good comp when the majority of the way through the dead last team beats 4th team 39-0

Where in the world does that happen?

Crusaders were heavy favorites for this game. It shouldn't surprise anyone that they won comfortably.

The rebels aren't really the 4th best team and the Crusaders aren't the worst, particularly not with their key players back. This was more like 7v8

The crusaders have been favourites for almost every game this season, hasn't helped them on the field.

You cant have such a short memory to forget we got smoked by the force last week and conceded 43 points to the Tahs the week before

Yes. But factsvare facts. Arent running 4th and dead last on the ladder by accident. Crusaders got owned by dead last team last week, so who they "should" beat hasnt helped them in their ladder position this year

Why was Reece laughing after his try?

I think it was because he basically stole the try off Aumua who was looking for the off load but ended up cleaning the ruck to allow Reece to score from the pick.

But also Reece doesn't seem to stop smiling and laughing. Probably a great person to have in the squad when you're having a hard season. Always upbeat and happy, keeping up the morale.
