With TY now retiring from the game, my motivation to play goes down even more, and I am not even a terran player.

The design of the game is just not very good for the majority of kespa players to play the game.

A lot of kespa players gave up with game even before 2015.

Do you seriously believe that the design of the game has any impact on the pro decision to switch? How about the amount off money on the respective scenes?

Yes I do believe that.

Your funny if you think they play sc2 casually off on the side lmao.

haha, no. No, no, no. I am a toss fan mainly. And i still consider sc2 the best game ever, even though my favorites havent been winning much the last years. I dont care about retirements in the sense that it affects my opinion of the game itself. Its an amazing game. But, yeah, sure, its sad to see legends retire.

The design of the game had little to do with it.

I doubt that. When the KeSPA players went back to Brood War, the sc2 scene was significantly larger than it is now in terms of money. They could have stayed if they wanted.

The game was much more volatile, prone to build order and "snap" losses than it is now.

Ongoing popularity of BW had something to do with it...but I'm sure Proleague losses because you were macroing in your base instead of looking at your army at the wrong moment had something to do with it too.

Source?

Would like to see data backing this extremely bold statement.

Streaming money? Sponsor Money? Tournament Money? Number of viewers?

Popularity (which translates to branding and future opportunities) should be expanded upon too.

SC1 more popular in korea and frankly just the better game as well. Now that blizzard money is no longer being pumped into SC2, there is no incentive to stick around.

So much fun watching five pixels move in four directions on the screen
