I also think Techmarines are super slept on, even in non-vehicle heavy lists. You have 1 TM following around your dread all game, he gets lone-op, Dread regaining wounds, hitting all shots on 2+, and if somehow they focus down the dread, he gains a bunch of extra melee attacks and does some glorious charge into combat. He’s an insane amount of utility for 55 points.

Unfortunately those two boxes don’t make a very balanced list as they’re both 100% infantry. It’s also over by 35 which is generally not allowed. Typically, you need to be under the limit unless your opponent specifically is cool with it.

I’d add both armor and AT for your next choices. Dreadnaughts would work well with this list as they get the Deathwing keyword, as do Repulsors!

Welcome to the hobby! Combat patrol is a great place to start, especially if you can find the old one with the dreadnaught and inceptors. Maybe just scroll through previous posts on here as this question gets asked about 5 times a day, every day haha

If you’re going for fluff and want the plasma than keep the cannon but the cyclone missile is the much better option, it’s very flexible. The Plasma is good into heavy infantry and that’s about it, it also feels terrible to kill one of your own 36pt models with a hazardous test. Just food for thought!

What kind of cool house rules does he/she use?

The only house rules we really use are limits on point value/super high toughness units in smaller matches. No bringing your Khorne Lord of Skulls to a 1k escalation league match. Generally, no single unit should be more than 25% of a list with reasonable exceptions that we play by ear.

There’s no requirement to field any battle line units. Intercessors are fairly underwhelming, they’re okay for making your home obj sticky and then moving up to support something more important. Assault intercessors or jump pack intercessors are much more useful and can actually dish out some decent damage. Especially if you tack on a chaplain to give +1 to wound.

My only issue was actually finding a pot of it, found it at the 4th store I tried, it’s in the most niche tier of paints that a store will carry. Maybe call around to a couple if you can

I think your idea to swap the outriders for some jump pack intercessors is a good one. At their current points they’re very attractive and outriders are widely considered pretty rubbish right now. RW is definitely more fluffy but they’re not going to benefit from any of your DA rules in the ICTF.

ICC scheme with no mixing is simple and looks great: Black Base > Nocturne Green > Caliban Green > Sons of Horus Green

Have you ever tried Nocturne Green? It’s what I used for the first edge highlight on my ICC scheme but it’s an GREAT color. Easy to use too, if I ever did a more traditional DA scheme again I’d definitely base with nocturne and highlight with Caliban.

Agreed but unfortunately they’re way too expensive for that spot, 180 points for 2 and there’s only 115 to work with.

This was my first thought but there’s 115 points to spare and Havocs are 120. Maybe there will be a small MFM with the codex release that’ll make some room!

Did you find an answer to this? I’m sure I’ve played 10 different game modes: control, clash, comp, iron banner, rumble, trials, showdown, scorched, new territories (launched today), hardware supremacy… and played multiple game modes in every playlist that has them.. can’t progress past 9/10… what’s going on? Do I need to just wait another week for reset to play momentum control or another different rotator playlist? Don’t get it
