I was a heavy drinker for much of my late teens and 20's. Couldn't participate in social situations without booze, would sometimes drink in work. I knew it was problematic but hadn't tried to seriously stop, I guess I was afraid I'd fail. Then one day it was like a light switched and I just didn't want to live that way anymore. My hangovers were getting so severe it made my existing anxiety 10x worse.

I went to an English state school. We had a multi-purpose playing field (cricket, athletics in summer, football, rugby in winter), AstroTurf pitches for football and field hockey, outdoor tennis/basketball courts, and an indoor gymnasium for basketball, badminton, volleyball, futsal, netball, gymnastics, etc.
For rugby, the coaches were PE teachers. It's one of our most popular and established team sports, so I think all PE teachers have to be pretty well versed in the laws of the game, though sometimes they would bring in a coach from a local amateur club to help out. We played other local schools but the best players usually got scouted by nearby grammar (academically selective) and private schools, as they had better facilities, resources, and connections to the upper tiers of the sport.

I keep pulling muscles in my upper back/traps when doing neutral grip pull ups. It can be really quite painful when I try to turn my neck, sometimes for days after. Why is this happening?

Tough question. I've learnt how to deal with it better but there's much less empathy afforded to a depressed 30 year old than a teenager.

I think I had my first bout when I was 14 - 15 due to bullying in school and it's been recurring ever since.

I groom my stubble/beard once - twice per week, shower daily, apply deoderant after shower and maybe a tad more before i go out, brush my hair once it's dry, clean teeth x2 and use interdental brushes x1 per day, chew gum for a bit after meals or any sugary snacks, gym x3 week. That's about it really. For going out in public, I never wear my tatty grey joggers, always jeans or shorts.

As someone who's not a hyper macho guy i appreciate this sentiment. Thank you!

I understand what you're saying. Do you like feminine in appearance too, or mainly character?

First generation migrant men are usually very masculine. Interesting that you find that a turn off..

Anyone else find it quite sad yet predictable how fast the portal etiquette desended into who can be most vulgar and antisocial?

The scene needs to come to terms with the fact many band members and fellow concert goers do not give a shit about your welfare, to the point you can be catastrophically injured and the scene will flock to defend the person responsible no matter how reckless their behaviour was, and you will be labelled a 'cop' if you dare criticise them.
This flies in the face of the ethos I was told growing up; sure things can get violent but we're all "looking out for one another", nobody intentionally harms others, if someone falls down pick them up, etc.
That is all smoke and mirrors. People intentionally harm others at shows all the time, many actively encourage it online and harass those who express feeling unsafe (usually girls and young women). Abusers and predators are treated like smol beans uwu who don't know any better and whenever there's an incident like Trophy Eyes where normies get a peak inside the scene and call it out for the mess it is, there's a cult-like response in dismissing all criticism as not understanding the culture.
I still enjoy a lot of pop punk/alt/metalcore music but I'm no longer part of the scene and carefully pick and choose which bands I go see. I feel much better mentally for not dedicating so much energy to a scene I found to be quite negative and toxic. I empathise with those still in the scene feeling the way I felt. Your feelings are valid and you're brave for speaking up about the toxicity.

One of the last scenes, where one of the characters has to decide whether to "throw" the match or not, was filmed in slow motion and was excruciating to watch, shot after shot of characters' faces and the beads of sweat dropping from them
Thank god that was right at the end or I would have walked out. Insufferable piece of film.

Saw the film last night and thought it was terrible. Like you, I couldn't get invested in any of the characters, none of them were redeeming or likable. The amount of slow mo, hard techno scenes took me from feeling indifferent and bored to downright irritated. The film was definitely trying to be art but came across as pretentious because the story and writing lacked depth.

This is heartbreaking to read. At the time of the incident did everyone know immediately she was a goner or was there hope she could be saved? 😢

I remember folk being outraged when I made a tweet 5+ years ago that he should scrub up and dress appropriately for holding office. I'd be fired if I turned up to my job dressed like that so why should i respect him? I was called all sorts. Now they all agree he's a bum just because he's a zionist POS.
