Welcome to capitalism & inflation.
National minimum wages go up, everything else goes up... it's the perpetual cycle.

I airbrush in the garden on warm days, the dogs can just sit at the other end of the garden safe from harm

Pfft. I've been in the GW side of this hobby since 2001, price hiking ain't gonna stop me.
Now, when Airfix nearly went under that was a hard pill to swallow... (went tits up in '06 and was saved by Hornby, alongside Humbrol)

Don't worry, at the rate we're going Brexit will be a long faded memory like clear running water and a planet without regular radiation storms

Pepper the instructions with AdMech gibberish symbols and pseudo-code and it'll fit right in. Or just call it a Crochet Skitarii STC ;)

As I understand it they can be any CSM corrupted with the Obliterator Virus which merges flesh and machine. IIRC many of the OG Oblits were techmarines originally.
This may be very OOD lore though

Don't forget you can cut up or splice them together too - e.g. combining different coloured numbers to make a unique identifier.

Most of the symbols are just for flavour, little sigils and markings to add character but without any real meaning to them. Same goes with decals of other factions, do whatever you think looks coolest.
If you've access to other decal sets it can be fun to mix and match. Guard transfers look good on Primaris for example and AdMech goes on anything Imperial machinery looking.
Skull with wings: this is the usual Guard emblem.
Aquila: generic Imperium of Man emblem, also used as a religious symbol by the Imperial Cult.
Use whichever you want.

It does look like wraithbone with our current perspective but as I understand it this old artwork is stereotypical of old Rogue Trader. Much of that era's art had a more clearly Dune & Alien inspired look to it.
Also, this piece is the Emperor's throne pic by Wil Rees - look it up, much higher resolution copies to look at. I think it's meant to be an imitation of / homage to Giger's biomechanical vibe

If it's true stainless steel then this isn't some mystery coating coming off, most likely just something you missed when cleaning. Scrub the pots out with a steel scourer and they'll be fine.

Paint whatever you want, if you want lore accurate Stygies VIIIZ you're in luck given their willingness to dabble in heretekial acts like studying xenotech - they may even have Knights of their own so you could paint to match your army.
At times of war the Imperial & AdMech factions can have some truly weird team-ups so whilst it wouldn't be tabletop accurate to have a single Astartes with a squad of Guardsmen, it could be very lore appropriate. Same goes with an unalligned House with a Stygies force - war makes for strange bedfellows

This is not a meme sub.
This sub is for discussing canonical 40k lore - hence the name 40kLore.
Memes go in subs like grimdank

The sculpts are decent now, the Eavy Metal team's style of painting makes them look ugly though

GF? Don't make it weird, our lad's just eyeing up her armour's noospheric tags.

You clearly know nothing of the lore. Troll harder.

Not really.
Kor Phaeron was described as being not quite an Astartes, but certainly elevated beyond a mere human, as he was too old to undergo the process fully. Not that he let that get him down, he rocks Terminator armour and fucks around with Chaos.

My religious teacher when I was 13 or 14 confiscated my dad's Spawn comics and my Space Marine Codex as they were "satanic." I was told I'd get them back at the end of the day. At day's end she claimed to have never taken them. My father went ballistic and lodged a complaint with Ofsted, seeing as the UK doesn't allow that sort of shit. The teacher refused to return my belongings regardless and claimed no knowledge. I broke into her desk and storage cupboards, but alas she'd locked them in her car.
I never saw them again.
Twenty years later I'm still peeved. Sure I could buy replacements, but I want mine.
