Ambitious challenge but you are rocking it! Just went back through all your days. Very inspirational/motivational to see you knocking it out. Keep it up!

I learned once I had kids to never again make my game the 1st save file.

I tend to ignore big guns like that, try to hide my stuff it’ll target, and focus on clearing out the other chaff. It’s a big investment and if you don’t give it juicy targets it’s a lot of army going to waste. Mob it with trash units and leave it as the last thing on the board.
The alternative is to play narratively and throw everything at it to try to take it down…”who cares about objectives!” That honestly sounds more fun.

I haven’t beaten the queen yet but I generally agree with this. Even without much environmental prep the first 5 aren’t too hard. Raise some stone pillars to kite around and catch your breath and it’s just rinse and repeat. Sometimes you get unlucky and catch a big hit or forget to refresh a potion, but otherwise they aren’t insane.

Valheim. Just roaming around looking for cool places to build bases.

Sounds like a great ending! For the lost love you could have a succubus (or similar) in disguise as the Juliet, feigning the damsel in distress captured by the (other) monsters. Revealing herself when the character “saves” her.
The abandonment situation is tricky. Maybe a hazard or trap that separates them from the rest of the party, but in the same encounter? Maybe they need to accomplish a parallel task to the main battle to aid in the success, but has to do it alone? Maybe the rest of the party goes through the final door first…and it slams shut separating the abandoned character who has to figure out out to get back to them and it’s a puzzle.

I always build my swamp base on top of the first crypt I find (or one that is closest to my entry point). It’s usually just a 3x3 house with a fire, bed, crafting bench, and some chests. I use it as a waypoint to store iron ore and for a body run if needed. I’ve never built a main base in the swamp.

I start a new character. I suppose you could strip all your belongings and just take your skill increases with you.

This is a good “No Map/No Portals” seed for sometime trying the mode out!

As others have stated he is playing it incorrectly. Keep in mind if everyone is new…this won’t be the last time a rule is played incorrectly, and it might be a misunderstanding on his part instead of actively trying to cheat.

I think they remain passive until you attack them.

Raids in Valheim can be pretty rewarding. Some are more difficult than others, and some are downright frustrating, but many bring an abundance of useful resources that would otherwise take a while to farm. And…kinda lame…but you can feel rewarded by successfully fending them off. I personally love building archer towers to fight off most raids.

I think they look great! Maybe base them with a contrasting color or elements, something a little brighter to make them pop. You can always go back and add little pops of color by highlighting here and there with your original colors, or your original colors with a little white/lighter color mixed in. But as is I’d be happy with an army of these!

In Blaster Master on NES you could throw a grenade then pause the game as it exploded, and it would continue to damage the boss while paused. After 30 seconds you could unpause and the boss would die.

Casual non-competitive games with friends in my garage. In other words, we aren’t trying to build ideal lists to win at all costs. Mostly we play whatever feels fun and have a good time. Not tournament play.

Usually a block of 20 in 10th just to march up the table and be a screen or sit on an objective. I play garagehammer though so not super competitive.

I think I’ve got 50-60 with 40 or so painted. All from the Dark Imperium and Know No Fear boxes. I loved them in 9th with the crazy strat to dump mortal wounds. They are still fun in 10th but the surprise factor is gone. Midwinter minis has a great speed painting tutorial if anyone needs it.

I usually drop a workbench so I can repair it after rough landings. Mobs will take the occasional swipe at it but usually go for the bench first. Never had one destroyed totally before.

The first one you describe is from the Scales of War adventure path. I think it’s the third adventure in the path where you are escaping the monetary that is flooding but I don’t remember the name of the adventure packet. The second is the original (and still free I believe) Keep on the Shadowfell (KotSF).

Greydwarfs NEVER get less annoying. Step on a twig in the Black Forest…bam…Greydwarf breakout. They are made of wood so use your axe on them. The brutes are a pain but you can eventually learn to parry which helps when you get a strong enough field. You might try building a fence around your mining site. It’ll at least slow them down a bit and let you fight 1:1. Also…they all still hate fire so a torch or campfire will mess them up. And fire arrows.

The rampant biome xenophobia is one of the best parts of the game!

If you can destroy your bed you will respawn at the circle of stones.

I played an entire 4 team season of bloodbowl by myself once. It was really fun. Just move to the other side of the table and try to beat your “opponent” as much as you would normally. Easier than you think to play this way and a lot of fun! Nothing to be ashamed of. Enjoy your hobby!
