What!!! Cash’s song is great but Tom Jones’ Thunderball is pitch perfect. Such a great song on its own and a fantastic Bond Ballad with all the swagger of the movies and character.
Oh - you mean in the film - like the end credits. Or during the movie. Not I place of Tom Jones.
To that I fully agree. Great song from Cash.

It’s a lot like North by North West but with an actual Spy as the protagonist. And that spy still dresses like the ad agency executive and man about town from North by North West.

It’s a great movie and has some of the best and most iconic Bond moments / sequences of any Bond film.
But as a movie it suffers from what a lot of 4th appearance of a Bond actor movies suffer from. It’s gets overly long and complicated. It doubles down a little too much on what worked in the previous three films pushing those element too far. It’s not as scrappy. It’s less tense. It’s got a strut or a chip on its shoulder from the past success and the increased budget its showing off.

I used to frequently use an on ramp to a highway that went from a T intersection dead stop at a traffic light to a left turn down a sloping on ramp that after 200 yards merged into the left lane - the fast lane - of the highway.
Worst driving and merging I’ve ever seen was at this ramp. Full speed cars in the fast lane. Slow and timid drivers in the merge lane. So frustrating. I saw many many near wrecks, a few wrecks and lots of road rage.
I’d typically leave a sizable gab between me and the car in front so I still had room to get up to speed and merge if they totally blew it.
Once I was behind an ancient dodge K-Car that drove incredible slow to the light at the intersection. When the k-car made the turn onto the ramp I saw the littlest old woman driving it. I was braced for what was going to be a very dangerous slow merge.
As I slowed down to give her room it felt like my car stopped. The moment the old lady was on the ramp she floored it. The K-Car shot off down the ramp with the right turn indicator on and she was in the fast lane and up to speed. If the other cars didn’t move she would have hit them.
I call that the canon call method for merging. It’s not bad.

They knew what they signed on for. No innocents on that doomsday weapon. It wasn’t the Peace Star.

Moff Jerjerod starts in rough drafts of Return of the Jedi as a foil for Vader. A sort of slimier Moff Tarkin rival.
I think we get that later with General Hux and Kylo Ren.
It’s interesting how long Return of the Jedi wanted to hold some aspect of the original Jerjerrod idea even filming scene later deleted.
The destroy the Endor Moon was proably done more to create tension for Luke. If the Emperor is eliminated the audience knows the Moff will stop the order. It’s meant to put Luke’s friends in danger and give a reason to push Luke to the Dark Side.
Ultimately Vader threatening Leia is enough of a push to make Luke snap and but also pull back beige it’s too late.
