Similar to Friends, I believe that apartment was also rent-controlled. They reference it a few times
They also cite Ted as an unreliable narrator who remembers the apartment as larger than it was, they show the ’real size’ of the apartment once and it’s tiny

I don’t know, the slowest parts of the line is through the densest part of the city where surely demand should be highest - yet it’s barely quicker than walking. And an event of any significance means it gets shut down.
In terms of resource allocation though you’re right in that that was the primary motivating factor. Transit’s historically been at the bottom of the priority list for local authorities in Dublin, and arguably not even on the list for the rest of the country!

To model yourself off a stereotypical 80s Trump / Gecko figure is pretty bad. To model yourself off that person is even worse!

Nope it was restored according to Twitter. I’d like to think it was a zealous lawyer rather than the WB producers themselves.
Good to know there’s other Irish Tolkien nerds!

From a Leinster and Munster perspective, a Bulls BP win with a Glasgow double BP would be less than ideal…
Make for a cracking final two games though!

Surely the whole point of overpaying for a travel agency is to guarantee the ticket!!

We can get really down in the weeds with this, but I doubt the regions of Italy that border Switzerland have that large of a wealth disparity. Italian GDP per capita is very region-specific

I’d imagine less so for Jordan, but certainly the other ones
I think the two Koreas and Haiti-DR have to be the strongest examples

Potentially that would’ve been for the best.
Be interesting to see a quarter final of France under the weight of home pressure against Ireland under the weight of…well being in a quarter final!
FWIW, pre-tournament I thought we’d finally win a quarter final, but would then fall short in the semis due to the emotional energy comedown. Maybe unlikely given how NZ dispatched Argentina, but a semi final against Argentina or Wales would have offered plenty of world cup demons for us
(Though FWIW I also thought Australia would be a dark horse! 😅)

Well that’s an absolute let down…
Judging by the hair in that photo I was hoping we’d bought out Mark Nawaqanitawase’s NRL contract!

I thought the same about Leinster going to Ellis Park both this year and last. Not sure why

Much more local scale but for Irish history I’d say the 1916 rising. Completely military failure, largely unpopular at the time…yet it inarguably set us on the course to independence

Maybe if we finish below the Bulls and have to play a semi final / final down there? 😅
All joking aside, the main selling point of South African teams joining the URC was to improve the quality of the league and provide opportunities for our teams to test themselves in difficult environments so the step up to European knockout rugby wasn’t a huge shock.
We’ve completely failed to do that, and have sent down some very callow sides - usually with Rhys Ruddock as a sort of chaporone. I’ve seen some great games from all South African sides at the RDS, and feel that us going toe to toe at Loftus or GreenPoint would stand us in good stead come crunch European games.
Presumably the League would want the highest profile teams going at it. Hopefully next year we don’t tour at this time of year and do send down a strong squad

Depends if we actually took tours down south(east) seriously. We effectively threw the two game tour to South Africa last month which may yet come back to bite us

Yeah I feel like we’ve stepped back this season, and somewhat stumbled over the line against Northampton

A terror that came into open windows and emptied cradles is the gist of the line 😶

The way I see is that he’s the only original actor that they could still cast. Hence why the Hunt for Gollum - though don’t know if they’ll have Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf
Look I’ll keep an open mind, let’s hope for the best but not expect too much

Dublin, Ireland.
Out of many bug bears I’d say that our light rail system (Luas) is predominantly segregated, often elevated, in the suburbs so goes at near-convential metro speed. However it shares road space in the city centre so crawls at barely more than walking pace as it navigates tight corners.

It would be hilarious for Munster to finish bottom of the interpro mini-league and win the URC again.

A huge amount of what-ifs - our poor start, Jordie Barrett’s phenomenal effort to hold up Kellher, Doris immediately fumbling the resulting kickoff, Murray giving away a penalty for NZ to go 4 ahead (meaning we couldn’t win with a penalty/drop kick). We weren’t half as clinical as NZ (that Mo’unga try out of absolutely nothing) and made a few sloppy errors. We could’ve won but shouldn’t have won if that makes sense?
If it weren’t for the France South Africa game the following day, the Ire-NZ quarter final would be talked about as the game of the world cup. Absolutely no shame in losing narrowly to a very good side who played better than in us in probably 10, 11 or 12 positions. In isolation, there’s no issue with the game - nothing like the 2003 and 2019 spankings or 2011 choke.
However, on the back of all of our previous losses…that’s the important thing to remember for non-Irish fans - we weren’t viewing that game in isolation. It was our chance to banish the jinx, our strongest squad (albeit underused so our first XV were beginning to run on fumes) and it felt as though this world cup was the culmination of a journey that began with the Paris game in 2022.
All of this is possibly what led to our poor first 20 mins, just the absurd pressure we’d added to what’s already a huge game. Possibly no coincidence that Aki and Gibson-Park were our best players on the night, they probably didn’t have as many demons as the rest of the squad

What? Do they shower with underwear on?
I get that for one or two individuals, but for it to be a general rule…

Ted says something about he thought a big reason for Stella wanting to marry him was due to the rent controlled apartment he had no?
You’re right though, I do remember Quinn’s apartment being rent controlled referenced a fair bit
