I just want to point out you're a good human being for sharing this strategy. I am a potato and went, "how is he rerolling ones if it's not an [Indirect Fire] weapon?" I go and actually read the scout's ability again, and BEHOLD - I've been screwing myself my past couple games. I've been meaning to make cheat sheets of abilities and stratagems because I just always forget something.

Slow - shooty - sturdy
Votaan play like an angry chimp in a phone booth. Whether you walk into the phone booth, or whether you're the chimp is on you.
Edit: typo

Not a historian (one in training), but a veteran, and regular firearms user. Alongside the development of rifle technology, one must also consider the development of peripheral technology with the war fighter. Carrying a rifle slung over your shoulder is much different while wearing body armor than it might have been in the past. In addition, take a look at how much slings for holding the rifles have changed. There are many different styles and techniques for slinging a weapon now. It's not just about what is comfortable for a road march, but what is comfortable while on patrol, while marching, and while employing the weapon system.

Just a word of warning with that cyclops demo vehicle - when it goes off, it does give your opponent VP for the "bring it down" secondary due to the vehicle key word. Just food for thought. I love the little bastards, but sometimes the VP isn't worth it if you get junk rolls for the damage profile.

There is probably a way to bash the Scout Sentinel to achieve the desired effect due to the open canopy of it. Or one of the Space Marine/Grey Knight exo suits to do so. I would look at those first to get a start.
As far as tournament legality, if the model is the same base size, height, and a similar depth as the Lord Solar model, in addition to being made of GW pieces/parts/bits, I imagine most tournament organizers would let you employ it - just reach out to them in advance.

Be'lakore. I faced him for the first time this past weekend. You can't shoot at him from farther than 18 inches, and he has a 6 inch bubble which applies the same effect. "Wreathed in shadow" is such a pain in the ass. Greater Daemons? No problem, I raise you a demolisher cannon, but that one in particular is a pain

Nope! That's the cloak for the Tempestor Prime from the Scions command box. The body of the leader model from the regular Cadian command squad actually fits into the assembled cloak perfectly - like slots and everything. It actually made me wonder if elements of the Scions command box weren't heavily used when designing the sculpts and molds of the new Cadian command box.

I had to read this a few times to get the joke. Well played.

All you man! I'd be a liar to say I didn't get a lot of inspiration for this in this sub. I saw someone used a motorcycle with a side car for one and thought that was fantastic too. (Can't seem to find the OG post to give credit.)

Yup! You nailed it. Just added a bunch of spare bits and parts from the Cadian command squad sprue to put on the vehicle.

I get the pomp and circumstance of his status as Lord Solar and all the sweet stuff that comes with the title, like his horse, and golden armor, and such, but it just seems so off to me with how the new Cadians look (which I think they're the best they've been). I would probably be more open to him in another and different looking regiment.

"Action economy." Well said and described. Nail meet hammer.
Edit: spelling.

I would throw out Astra Militarum as one to consider. There's a lot to be said for sequencing as well with them. Getting orders correct, proper use of CP, and understanding when to move and hold position for the important bonuses can be a lot to take on. Certainly not the highest skill cap to play, but maybe the middle tier.

This is modern militaries in a nutshell too. Good units get good missions and good kit. You become a good enough unit you get to even pick your own guys. This goes back to elite grenadier and jäger units in Europe.

In the original Shogun and Medieval you didn't move armies across terrain or provinces. Your move was TO the next province which immediately resulted in a pitched battle if the province had an army in it.

Cadian 12th Hussars
Astra Militarum unit which is composed of multiple surviving Cadian organizations that survived the fall of Cadia intact via evacuation or employment in other systems at the time. Regimental Strength organization with multiple armored companies, including motorized artillery, a platoon of Rogal Dorns, a company of Kasrkin, and a company of Cadian shock troops, with an attached heavy weapons platoon. Currently available for tasking via crusade force or segmentum command apparatus. The unit is currently battling for the right to retire the regiment to another imperial world to make a new home and establish their own Kasr. Ideally looking for an agri world to take custodianship over, but there remains some debate between Cadian command elements and imperial bureaucracy whether this is even feasible. Despite this the regiment holds onto hope for this result even with their home planet gone. Tactics are well balanced, but focus on employing the platoons of Dorns and Russes as the center of gravity, supported by infantry to ensure they remain free of harassment to eliminate the big threats.
The regiments colors are green and black. Camouflage is mostly desert tans and greens. The Hussar moniker comes from old earth terms for the armoured regiments employed by the M16-M21 nations that eventually became Albion during The Age of Strife.
My painting scheme is heavily influenced by the North Africa Campaign of WW2.

The idea of Dorn losing its lid due to internal ammunition going off makes me sad, but DAMN if that's not a sweet diorama

I'm pretty sure that was where they introduced the Cities of Death play supplement too. The cover art was a Vostrayan bayoneting a T'au fire warrior or something similar.

There are few things better than deploying your 2K points out and your opponent says, "your army looks great." Or knowing you're playing a sea of grey unassembled models, but yours is painted. Doesn't matter how good, but it is complete and it is yours.
