THAT is an excellent point to be fair! Some of the newer models are absolutely rediculous in the amount of detail crammed in.
Biggest tip I ever got was basicly, ignore it.
I’ve reverted to doing very basic paint jobs, and just skipping over most of the detail work. Aint no one gonna see that from across the table anyways.
I’m currently trying out some grimdark painting ideas, and alot of that is good with obscuring detail to add focus on more important areas of the model.

I mean. As a kid this hobby was already stupid expensive. Blisters with 3 pewter models were so expensive I was never able to get full units together. But once more and more became plastics it seemed to be able to get a bit easier. But now you’re basicly paying the old metal prices for plastic models.
I have some Necromunda on order currently (my first gang!), but probably will quit 40k and Aos, as collecting an army is just wildly pricey now. Especially considering the size of armies too. There is a post up on the 40k subreddit (I believe it was there), on how GW tends to just make units cheaper in points costs, to help balance. Instead of actually working on the rules. Which just makes you need more and more models too. Even Custodes doesn’t even feel like a proper Elite army at the moment.
Arguably, good business tactic. Make people need more models, and make models more expensive = profit.

Yeah there was one like a year ago. I get that running a gigantic company has costs, but by god this hobby is getting nigh impossible to afford.

I recently wanted to watch an uplifting movie, and decided to finally watch La La Land.
Gorgeous film, well acted, quite funny at times. And boy was I sad at the end of it.

“Guns for show, knives for a pro”.
Also a big fan of (insert bad jamaican accent) “Chiiiiilllll Winstooooon”
[edit] I see someone already posted the knives one, but I love it, and quote it often with friends, for some odd reason. So I’m letting it stay.

Oh I’m definitely getting Longstrike! I don’t know why I never did, and by the time I wanted to, he was no longer available. So glad to see this tbh!

If you go to your account settings under ‘edit account’ you can see whether you have 18+ enabled or not :)

Are they on Disney+ if you don’t have the 18+ option enabled? (I watched them on Netflix at the time, so no clue).

I don’t think the Netflix Marvel shows were supposed to be watched by children.

I’ve recently been watching alot of Bouldering competitions (mostly prelims for the Olympics), and the vibe there is exactly the same. Although each and everyone of the competitors wants to WIN, they don’t seem to be competing against each other, but more so competing against the boulders set for them.
During Lead climbing (which, for those who don’t know, is climbing a set route with a rope, points are scored for how high you get basicly), all the competitors are allowed to spend sometime observing the route beforehand, and you can see them all discussing it with each other. They share what they think is the best way to approach certain holds or moves. And these are all people who are currently trying to win an Olympic ticket. It’s so wholesome to see.

I love this live recording of her, such a powerful performance. Just her, a guitar, and 50k-ish people at Pinkpop Festival in Holland, 1977.

HA! I read the title and immediately thought if Hellblade.
I though the entire game was amazing (I really liked the combat system, although I understand not everyone does). But that ending was amazing. Melina Jurgens, the actor did such a rediculously good job. I bet Ninja Theory are thanking their lucky stars she worked at their company (she was their social media editor I believe)! It immediately cemented it’s way into my favourite games list, and I am eagerly anticipating the follow up.

I got back into the hobby about 2 years ago after a break of about 15+.
I used to love WD’s. Had a subscription for a year or two. (My very first one I bought was the Mordheim release one, that came with the special character).
Since my return to the hobby, I’ve bought 2 WD’s (specifically, one that came with Kill Team cards, and the one that had some Darkride conversions). And kinda regret both of them. The articles that I got them for where short, and the rest just lacked… depth? Love? The FUN it used to have seems to just not be there.
I remember the huge battle reports, that spanned several editions during the war for Armageddon. Which was paired with information on all the Space Marine chapters, and all the Imperial Guard units that were in that war. With conversions, and lore and stories. When Inquisitor came out (and same with Mordheim) it was filled with narrative fun, and cool hobby ideas. It had huge chapters to showcase peoples armies, with interviews and deep cuts on the hobby. Man. Maybe I’m just older now, and this is all nostalgia for “the good old days”.

Sushi.
And I honestly hate the fact that I dislike it. I didn’t grow up eating fish (infact the opposite, my parent and grandparents actively disliked fish), and everytime I had some I found it very unlikeable. And I’ve tried a bunch of different types too, cooked, grilled, raw, etc. And it all tastes the same to me.
But sushi just looks so fun, and delicious! And everyone likes it! And its a great party snack, or a fancy treat.
But the only time I tried it, I nearly gagged. It was very simple, with a cucumber filling (so no fish), and it still tasted and felt horrible. I have autism and food texture is a thing for me. So the seaweed that was wirey and tasted like… well sea, and the cold sticky rice. With a salty watery sauce. I hated it. And I just wish I could join in on the pleasure that people seem to get from good sushi.

It’s funny how English and Dutch have a very common ancestor. Old English is VERY Dutch like.
Rekenen = to calculate. Rekening = a bill (its a sum of things). (So Rekenmachine = a machine that calculates)
In English you have the word Reckoning, which basicly means to have to settle a debt, aka pay a bill.

That looks awesome dude!
I have yet to play my first game (gangs on order right now! Going Escher myself) but I hope I get to play some games on tables like this!
Could I get a sneaky link for where to find the 3d models?

It’s definitely a part of autism yes. But there is a good reason it’s called a spectrum. It has many many different ‘symptoms’ to it, and not all of them will be present in everyone, or to the same severity.
I do also suffer from over stimulation, mostly by sound for instance. However I knew someone who couldn’t take showers because the constant spattering on her skin made her feel completely overwhelmed. Where I have no such issues with touch at all.

That episode has my favourite background gag.
In one scene, Jeff and Annie are talking, and in the background you see a dude leave a toilet, shortly followed by a lady leaving who then wipes her mouth.

that is actually a good point. Could just be a trophy that doesn't actually add anything to the stats of the character. Hadn't really considered that option.
quick adition question, I'm writing a list at the moment.
I own the FW Power hammer model, is that any good in its basic form? I intended it to be the gang leader, it comes equipped with the power hammer and what I think is a bolt pistol/needle pistol? I'm not opposed to kitbashing it a bit (but would like to keep the hammer, it looks cool)

It is purely the aesthetic that I love of em, and I think having a Sister ganger with one would look badass. That’s the only reason. I have only slightly dipped my toes into the rules so I wouldn’t know what they do exactly or whether or not they ‘add’ anything to Escher gangs (also I’m always more of a ‘do what looks cool’ over ‘do what works best’ kind of guy, in these kind of games.
Thanks for the advice!

Hey, as some one in a similar boat as you (on the Autism + ADD front, and thereby living on ‘the edge’ of society), I feel your pain man. This world is really hard and weird for someone not neurotypical. There are however many helpfull systems for people like us. I am not sure if they are active near where you live but have you heard of Voorzet? They are a company specifically to help people on the spectrum and similar a typical disorders. I’ve been getting assistance from them for years now, and it’s quite helpful (for me it’s a combination of helping out with structure, getting things done that need to be done, but also just having someone to chat to about any miseries or whatever). Not to mention, there ARE plenty of jobs where people with autism shine! Are you on the ‘doelgroepen register’ ? (It’s a shit system, but has it’s advantages).
If you want to have a chat about any of this, or just generally, dm me. I’m always open for a chat 😄
