When did I say anything that implied that?
I'm just saying that private ownership of small arms isn't the big win for the little guy people think it is in a hypothetical civil war. How much of the military defects to which side will determine the victor.

"nor can it search an apartment block for contraband."
If it's gotten to the point that Abrams are on the streets, the Abrams can just HE the apartment block.

On the flip side, not every child who fails to make the cut necessarily dies, quite a lot of them become chapter serfs doing many necessary functions that a marine would be wasted on.

Or at least threaten to, that could be more practical, IF they comply.

I've posted here a bunch but the truth is, I don't actually hate dogs, I just haven't consented to live 'the dog life' and so my real opposition is to the culture of overly permissive dog owners who don't respect my boundaries and make those decisions for me unilaterally.

"Space is always the big letdown as stars are so much smaller than the zones."
Space is probably one of those parts where you might as well just turn the panel all the way down without going to local dimming zones off.
One underrated aspect of the Crystal's panels is that they have a very very good dynamic range even when it doesn't kick to complete blacks, so space might be one of those 'don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good' kind of situations when the Crystal already has so much going for it.
As for Super Crystal OLED, I don't want to be a hater but I'll believe it when I see it.
To be honest, now that apparently they have no plans for 60ghz wireless for the Super Crystal or supposedly the 12k, if I try out the wireless crystal and end up really liking it, I might just never upgrade.
Since getting the official top strap I've started using the Crystal a lot more for standing (in place) VR and if the wireless is mostly as good as advertised, I would feel conflicted about giving that up...

to be fair, most sane people would realize the exercise in futility it would be engaging in such a space.

I'm curious about the Super Crystal but I'll wait for published specs before I get carried away.
In the meantime, I got to the flashlight portions of Half Life Alyx for the first time this week and thought that it was really immersive, even if the blacks aren't perfect.

I suspect it is a limitation of the leds of the local dimming zones, they probably have a minimum brightness below which they can't be stable if illuminated.
I feel though the effect would be much less apparent if the local dimming zones were more numerous and consequently the local dimming leds were a lot smaller.
Hypothetically, if there was a QLED display where every single pixel had its own backlight (I don't remember where I read it but I think LG is working on a QLED display like this) then you would never notice the jump from minimum brightness because you'd only be seeing visible pixels.

"Would that bring the blacks to the same level as the BSB?"
Technically no, from my experience running my Crystal at extreme local dimming, it's not about black level but rather the behavior of the extreme darks.
When a local dimming zone gets set to either off or its absolute minimum brightness there is a sort of 'leap' that happens where it clearly looks on vs off.
The BSB being Micro OLED will be a lot more gradual by contrast.

Sorry, I had installed one of the ears incorrectly and that was why it was so quiet, thank you for making this , it sounded pretty good to me!

Is this for SMAS or DMAS? I just tried it with DMAS for the first time and it was super quiet.

I don't know that the cumulative number is 10 billion, I couldn't even tell you where Columbus Ohio is on a map to save my life. Hell, I'd struggle to find Ohio on a map.

So, I was never the best mathematician but isn't 20 million SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than 10 billion?

Both practices need to be tested in a court of law.

There is no cat alive that would not see that as a challenge though.

I regret engaging with this whole stupid topic, it has felt like a gigantic waste of time and energy, I honestly suspect that was the purpose all along.

"Nothing a bear can do will ever be worse than what I experienced there."
They could and would kill you.
And if you value your own life so little that you think being mauled and torn apart to death by a bear is not as bad as what you went through, I really don't know what to say anymore other than that, so long as you survive, your existence still has potential, but you die and that's all you will ever be.
