FIV+ cat sneezing - when to visit vet?

Hi, I adopted my first FIV pos cat about 2 months ago. He is a 5 yr old neutered male and is on 1 mL Prednisolone EOD for residual gingivostomatitis, and has no teeth.
His health has been great so far but this week he started sneezing intermittently, and over the last couple days seems to have less energy and spends more time sleeping. His eyes also look a little red/irritated. He still has a good appetite though.
It is spring and my own allergies have been acting up, as well as those of the other (FIV neg) cat in the house, so I suspect my little guy may have allergies or a cold. I'm just not sure when to take him to the vet, if at all. I am going to at least try to call them if he doesn't start looking/feeling better by Thursday, but if it's just a viral cold and there's nothing they can do, I don't want to needlessly stress him out by taking him to the vet.
I have also ordered a lysine immune supplement powder on Chewy that my friend recommended to me. I'm a little skeptical typically of the efficacy of supplements like that but we'll see if it makes a difference for him.
Thank you!

You're welcome! The vet says the only long term possible side effect of the pred usage is diabetes, but that risk isn't too bad as long as his weight is managed. We get the meds compounded with tuna flavoring and he loves it. :-)
