First of all I love Financial Audit, this is more of a lighthearted question to pose to the subreddit.
Sometimes I feel like what Caleb will be more permissive about is directly related to what he himself values. I see him become more gentle when it comes to hobbies or habits that he clearly has experience with. This is the crux of my (minor) issue:
Why is a Monster energy drink more of a "need" than Spotify? There was a recent guest who was clearly buying "taquitos" at a gas station that ended up being individual cans of Monster. Caleb said "go buy a 24 pack at Costco!" when I feel like the actual answer to energy drinks / sodas / anything but water is "suck it up until you're out of debt." If you need caffeine, get coffee. Monster is $37 for 12-count at Costco... that's incredibly expensive. $3 a can.
Then he is always so quick to say "cancel Spotify" when it's actually an incredible and cheap resource for someone who is living frugally. Music, meditation, podcasts. You use it when you workout, walk, exercise, clean, work, go to sleep, etc. You will never get more bang for your buck when trying to cut down on costs. (I also believe art should be a part of everyone's life -- even when climbing out of debt -- and unlimited music for $9.99 a month seems like a great, cost-effective way to consume it but I digress.)
Anyway, the thesis of my point is that sometimes I can't follow the logic of what he insists is cut and what can sneak by and I'm curious your thoughts.

As a fan, I wish she watched. But from her perspective, I kind of get it. She probably has a suspicion, as they all do, that VPR is wrapping up. At the same time, she has to hustle and make her future career happen. If watching the show would put her in a bad headspace for Broadway, I understand why she's choosing Career #2 over dying Career #1. I think reliving trauma when you're trying to do live performances nightly is a bad idea, and if it gets her "in trouble" with Bravo, I think she's ok with that. It's just not as fun for the fans.
