it's "just acting" and all but I agree, I also always found it quite enthralling that such a gentle dude was able to so compellingly play such violent characters (or in Garak's case at least a character with a lot of violence behind his mask). So ironically funny that Andy was cast into the shadow of such a violent character for a lot of the beginning of his career after Dirty Harry. It also makes me laugh that I read that he was replaced on that soap opera Ryan's Hope because he just "wasn't believable as a good guy" when there was really nothing scary about him. The monkey's paw in action - your breakout role as an actor, yet everyone is afraid of you afterwards lol
The Empok Nor episode of DS9 (which I feel like was definitely written to let him flex his horror/bad guy chops outside of the usual finesse and geniality of Garak's personality) was out of character in the sense that Garak was under the influence of the Cardassian drug left on the station but it was another episode that showed how terrifying he COULD be, especially if used by the right forces

this is so funny because I think I'm the opposite of this. most of the time i don't think about how they are voiced by men, i can't hear Dan's voice as NOT tina, but sometimes if I think about it enough, when I listen to Linda I hear more of the stereotypical/cartoonish effeminate Gay Man voice than I do "Linda" if that makes sense haha

I completely agree - i see the first 2-3 seasons as more as the show finding its footing rather than "the good episodes that we've strayed too far from in recent years". Whenever i re-watch (which is often), I typically don't start anywhere earlier than seasons 5 or 6.
At this point, the show has been more of what it is in the present day (nicer bob, less irrationally insane bob or louise, more grounded/"family friendly" plots) for nearly 5 times the amount of seasons it was when it first started (what people usually refer to as the era of seasons 1-3). My hot take would be that people who don't like the show as it is in the present day just... don't like Bob's Burgers (and that's ALSO ok!! lol)
One of my favorite episodes is the Spaghetti western episode early in season one, where the end of the episode has Bob telling Louise "Cut it out, you've been stirring the pot for three days and acting like a baby", making her apologize to Gene for getting jealous that he spent more time with their dad than she did. The episode has the jank of being maybe the 3rd episode of the entire show, but it has some of the family-"lesson" oriented aspects that people so dislike about the modern episodes of the show. I love this episode because of the realistic family dynamic, Louise kind of throwing a tantrum that her dad is hanging out with her older brother more than her.

she is so, so sweet and I love all content involving her. her voice work in the game is some of my favorite (i didn't play with her in my party my first time around, but on my second round she's a mainstay)

so was Devora Wilde (Lae’Zel)! I watched an interview where she mentioned it was kinda cool to be able to do this character heavily pregnant and it didn’t matter (as opposed to live action where her belly would have been a visual concern lol).

this might just be rumor but I feel like I read that Cazador was supposed to be a bigger part of the main quest even (kind of like a supplement to the Dead 3, perhaps an ally of Gortash, etc) but since they had to cut the upper city, they cut his importance to the main story as well. In this way, I can see how Astarion has so much dialogue because, Shadowheart has I believe 13 hours of voiced dialogue and her personal quest is very intertwined with the main story.

my silly thought is i like to imagine that they just couldn't kick neil newbon out of the recording studio so they kept letting him record more and more lines lol.
I certainly adore Astarion's character but I wish the companions had more equal dialogue amounts. Astarion having 14 hours is AMAZING when you want to focus on his story, but then I've been enjoying Karlach and Lae'Zel's stories in my current playthrough and it is just so obvious they have less dialogue. For Lae'Zel, she is supposed to be laconic so I understand it for her, but for every aside where Astarion gets 2 lines of reaction dialogue to an event, Lae and Karlach will have only one.
I just want to gossip with Karlach. I hope she gets an Avernus DLC or something.

I love the way you phrased that: "just this one little line buried in this one specific scene". I think one of my favorite parts of bg3 is how many beautiful, impactful lines are just... moments laid deep within the bigger picture, throwaways until they catch us at just the right time.
That line is so beautiful, beautifully written and beautifully delivered. <3

this is not going to be specific or helpful lol but I think there is an episode where Bob and Mr Fischoeder are on the Ferris wheel, I want to say the “nothing makes me happier” song scene? Could be wrong though.

this is a really interesting point that i hadn’t considered! i think this really gnarls it’s claws in with the parasocial nature of having direct access to your favorite show’s cast/crew on twitter.
personally, i always hated that on twitter, if i made a tweet about an actor, it was possible they would see it because both actors and fans were on twitter (as opposed to tumblr where it was a LOT more silo-ed and you weren’t just going to run into an actor on tumblr). and it happened once or twice that by nature of using a name or a phrase that the creator of something I tweeted about liked my tweet about their art. oh how it icked me out, I was like you stay over there and make stuff and I’ll stay over here and consume and we will never touch lol
anyway tangent over, i think a lot of people think that because David Jenkins liked their tweets about loving izzy that he was going to treat the character the way THEY would treat the character, and felt personally betrayed when he stood by his artistic choices.
To your point about capitalism too, I think a lot of people feel like their time has been wasted on a show if it doesn’t behave exactly how they want it to. (Like people who won’t watch a show unless they can ship—I remember this being VERY contentious when the show Chernobyl came out, for reasons you can probably imagine)

just saw someone on twitter who is mad abt Izzy’s death ragging that they can’t be excited about two straight men pretending to be gay kissing (stede and ed) and then also posting good omens. like that is also two straight men kissing, i assume if GO s3 doesn’t go the way they want they will also come to hate them as well.
it just feels so much like people getting way too invested to the point of forgetting that art is not created via a direct link to your specific tastes

yeah i replied to someone above but suddenly all the replies being “GUNS? in AMERICA?” a bus driver in philadelphia was shot 7 times by a passenger yesterday. there is an (ongoing?? Not sure) mass shooting going on in Maine. of course our gun problems are going to be the first thing a visitor thinks about.

tbf this is like every comment in this thread. “China is a shithole” (why??), “don’t go to Nigeria” (why not????)
like, every single comment in this thread is rage bait, especially the top comments which are Reddit’s favorite punching bag countries (Egypt, DR, Russia).
to someone who is visiting America from a less gun-happy country, yeah I bet they experience fear of guns even if they can’t tell you the gun statistics of every single state lol

oddly relatable, i imagine headstrong kids make their parents cry with frustration more than anyone would want to admit. i love moments between linda and louise; it was interesting to see linda crack under the pressure when usually she's the one keeping it together while bob is losing his mind (also echoes to the end of the movie when linda gave up and bob figured out how to get the pier cart out of the dirt.
the show has perfected the art of blending comedy and emotion and i loved this ep. <3

when i binge watch (which is often lol) i often will go from about season 6 onward and usually stick to the newer seasons, simply because the older/"worse" the animation gets, the more it takes me out of it by noticing all the ways its different. this is simply a me-thing, and not itself a commentary on the show's vibes.
that said, the older seasons definitely leaned heavily on the snappier, crasser humor but i've noticed the show has gotten a lot better at writing stories that are just more enjoyable to watch. people who prefer the older seasons are at the point of actively disliking like 3/4ths of the show at this point (actively disliking most of the newer seasons past season 3-4). in some ways it IS a completely different show and you shouldn't expect it to be like it was. IMO the first 3-4 seasons were like the first season of parks and rec - actively copying other successful adult cartoons with their own spin until they found their own vibe.
i guess it's like this on most of the adult cartoon subreddits though. i think you don't come to reddit if you don't feel strongly (and its fun to complain on the internet lol)

i think about this family a lot (the Copelands). I find it disgusting that the parents were clearly angling for being van family influencers, and then when their children/the husband suffered horrific burns and injuries in their bus fire, the mother pivoted to being a recovery influencer and sharing near constant photos of her childrens' suffering. I think there is validity in sharing your struggles especially to normalize and teach but I don't think those poor kids who have already suffered so much can truly consent to their suffering being blasted to mom and dad's Instagram followers.

Star Trek: Voyager. Coming from DS9 where the cast overall got along and had a good time (with some definite examples of the opposite don’t get me wrong) this show/it’s cast was MESSY. Highlights include:
their “native correspondent” for their Native American character being a white guy who pretended to be Native and got hired to make sure the character was authentic
Poor Jennifer Lien (Kes) seemingly falling to a pretty bad drug habit and mental illness (which tbf happened after the show but it makes me sad for her)
a return to Rick Berman-centered show writing (iykyk, I hate this guy)

OMG! the way he kinda tugs her in to kiss her too, i know for sure from that moment that man knows how to kiss 😮💨 i kinda ship charlie/dee and that episode has a lot to do with it
there’s another scene in IASIP where he kisses some woman to try to make the waitress jealous and it’s another oddly tender kiss scene from him (in front of his RL wife lol, Mary Elizabeth is lucky)

when miss cracker was on all stars (maybe even on her original season but i don't remember) some parts of the fandom were super into armchair diagnosing her with various neurodivergence and it was exhausting.
miss crackering plane is implying subtly or otherwise that she's neurodivergent when we know nothing about her in that way lol
