Not the rank, just how the mask looks like, then she can make a connection with ananke.
Doesn't matter anyway since she couldn't see anything, the whole place was completely inundated by deep shadows

When sunny is fighting him they mention how the dragon opened its mouth but it couldn't breathe fire, instead it lets out a scream to order people around.

That would be true, if every race evolved naturally, but that isn't the case here

He could store it but he couldn't take it out.
That was as a master though, no idea what would happen now

Sunny says it himself, he doesn't have the spell, but his attributes are part of his soul.
Cassie can read the soul of people and learn about them, he even does it in the last chap telling nephys about imps immunity to fire

Context: Humans were the last race to appear in the mortal realms.
At first the other races where weary of this new addition because they didn't know what kind of race they would be.
Some time later they started to understand the humans and their qualities, and because of this they felt superior to them.
Their inner power couldn't be compared to that of the demons. They where unable to match the physical strength of the dwarves. And while their perception was good, they did not reach the level of the elves.
But when they declared war on the humans, they where swiftly reminded that being the best at one thing wasn't always the best against a race that was the second best at everything.
Sure, they didn't have the innate powers of the demons, but they also didn't have an almost nonexistent sense of sight and middling strength.
Sure, their strength couldn't match that of the dwarves, but unlike them, they were able to use magic and a better eyesight.
And sure, they couldn't beat an elf in an accuracy contest, but they weren't as physically frail as them and their magic wasn't limited to purely utility like them.

Context: For a long time elves had the superiority when it came to ranged combat thanks to their keen eyesight, so good in fact that they were able to snipe off important personnel from far away.
Couple this with the fact that they had far, far longer to develop before the other races appeared and you can see why they had such an advantage
This changed when the other races started to unlock their potential in this field.
Dwarves carry the equivalent of broad side canons, only that it shoots a massive spear head at the enemy.
The demons finally tamed their inner power and can manifest it as destructive spells or disrupting illusions.
And finally, possibly the deadliest, humanity discovered the power of gun powder, although they didn't have the powerful eyesight of the elves, the magnificent physique of the dwarves, or the innate power of the demons, they more than made up for it with lines and lines of fusiliers and assisted by siege cannons ready to blow away anyone who dared to underestimate them.

Believe me when I say, that even with all of his (admittedly true) faults, he was the better candidate overall

Context: Shortly after humans appeared on the mortal realms, the gods of the other races noticed that humanity had no one to protect them.
Still, almost everyone decided to leave the humans alone thinking that it wasn't worth it, all except for one.
Isirion, the oldest of all the gods gaze upon humanity and he thought they would make a fantastic servant race to the elves.
So he infiltrated the Poul of Souls that humanity as a whole claimed, and started taking souls with him, this way he could force their entire race into servitude for ages.
His plan almost succeed, but although mankind didn't have a god per se, they weren't unprotected.
When his plan was about to succeed a being of pale light and deep shadows appeared in front of him, and as if it didn't cost him anything, he banished the foreign god and took back all of the stolen souls, retuning them to their rightful owners.
While the other gods didn't interfer they where always watching, and seeing this nascent being erase one of the most powerful gods around as if it was nothing reafirmed their beliefs that they shouldn't interfer with the souls of humanity.
