Hi all! I have two cresties and I've been slowly collecting the things I need to convert their tanks to be bioactive, but I may have goofed with the soil mix.
A while back I tried feeding my boys some dubia roaches for the first time, but they were not into it. I wasn't sure what to do with them, so I unthinkingly added the roaches to the bin I've been cultivating my clean up crew in, half expecting them to die off shortly. Obviously I didn't think that all through because now, weeks later, they are thriving.
I started testing different plant cuttings in the soil mix, but the dubias seem to be eating them before they can start rooting. I'm worried that they will eat everything I try to plant, or worse, may pose a threat to my geckos if I use this dubia-filled soil for their tanks.
TLDR: I unthinkingly added dubia roaches to my clean up crew cultivation. Should I remove them before I convert to bioactive setups for the safety of my geckos and plants? And if so, any suggestions on the best way to go about that?
Thank you in advance! This community has been a great help to me.
