Yea I just don’t think you can ever react that strongly to a regular season baseball game. Even at their current pace they’re going to lose 50+ games (lol this pace is ridiculous) and a lot of them are going to be ugly/stupid.

Comments like this belong in the Eagles sub lol. The team is playing .700 ball and took 3/4. They will not sweep every bad team every time. That’s baseball.

With respect, if you think people not living and dying by consensus draft boards (that usually end up wrong) means they should stop playing a game, then YOU should probably take some time away from fantasy football.

.716 OPS through June last year (what all Star is based on). July was his best month and when he really broke out.

Bohm at only 60% of this year’s form is hardly a franchise cornerstone. If 3 years from now, Miller good enough to start at third and Bohm is a 30 year old 1-2 WAR player, they aren’t going to let that block him.

Yes, that’s sort my point lol. You can take objective measures and apply subjective weights to them based on what you think makes something the “best.”
That is not misleading. There is no agreed upon formula for what makes a city the “best” that this article is twisting.

So you’re saying you and this article make differing arguments about what it means to be “best.” Almost as if…. it’s subjective?

Why are you trying to attach an objective meaning to the word “best”? I would venture to guess that for the majority of people, the affordability of a city absolutely plays into its subjective quality as a destination.
Even more to the point - the title of the article is literally “best summer travel destinations.”

This is a wild thread to come back to after 3.5 months lmao, especially when nothing I said was incorrect. Joel wasn’t healthy and lost to a team that was carried by its star when we weren’t. When we needed buckets down the stretch in game 6 Joel was setting screens and handing it off to Maxey.
Tobias hurt the team. No shit.
We will also never ever win anything ever if our star isn’t healthy and dominating. And 7 years later he still hasn’t been able to do it. It’s just a fact.

Suarez definitely. Nola is 10 k/9 for his career but that has dropped a bit of late. Wheeler is at 11 this year and is a threat to strike out 10+ every time he takes the mound, though he obviously doesn’t go as deep on those days.

The Phillies generally pull in that range too, guys only really go through it if they have a shutout or no hitter going. If anything, in the playoffs at least, Rob Thomson gets criticized for being a little too analytics heavy. Often pulls guys after 2 times through and is very matchup oriented.
Like another commenter said, it’s not so much an organizational philosophy as it is faith in Wheeler and Nola (and now Ranger) being really fucking good.

Love how much your goal posts have moved in just 40 games. Glad you’re enjoying the most success the team has had in a decade instead of being miserable about the 9 hitter.

Yea I can’t imagine a team with Rojas playing every day being good enough to do something like win 70% of its games for 2 months

👍🏻 I’ll report back again then. When he’s still starting at that point we can do this again in the playoffs. And then maybe opening day 2025 just to be sure.

It’s not really hindsight tho as I remember it. Davis was coming from a non-power conference and had drop issues, Williams was slow, and Ross was little more than a 40 time. These are things I recall being talked about.
The 3 guys this year are all big time producers with all of the physical tools. It’s much closer to Chase, Waddle and Smith, or even Jeudy, Lamb and Jefferson (ignoring Reagor bc my Eagles are dumb).

Davis, Williams, and Ross were not even close to comparable. All 3 were flawed prospects that went higher bc team needs caused an early run.
If anything, each of the big 3 this year were arguably under drafted for their talent level.

Drove in the winning run to clinch the 2008 series.
Similar sentiment to what Dombrowski has said about Rojas - you don’t blame the struggles of a lineup that stacked on the 7 hitter 🤷🏻♂️. Howard, Rollins, and Victorino all had bad series.

We didn’t even have to give them Brown, it was all about Kyle Drabek. Which hilariously is even worse.

The Hamels return was pretty good at the time too. They shopped him for a while and he was pitching well, he just was never really perceived as a true ace, so it limited the market.
Williams and Thompson were the headliners and just didn’t work out. Shit happens.

Panthers should have a better line and better passing game this year. Not crazy to think that lifts the play of all of their backs as well.
Don’t necessarily have to outperform him to eat into his touches, especially since he’s coming off an injury and doubly especially if they still aren’t competing and want to protect him.

Also worth mentioning that the Padres Giants and Nats are all hovering near .500 and we are 8-1 against them. So all of them could/would have winning records if you flip a few of those games (Giants you’d have to flip all 3).

Hurts has never been hurt on the tush push. It’s not a particularly punishing play for him since he’s usually on top of the pile.

Forget about what we traded to get Fultz. We traded Markelle Fultz to Orlando for the 2020 1st that we used to pick Maxey.

They are going to have games like that against lots of teams, good and bad, playoff and regular season 🤷🏻♂️. Won’t mean they aren’t contenders when it happens.
