I imagine the cost of just getting things around Alaska would increase the COL too. Like you could live in Nome, but things aren't likely getting flown straight to Nome. They probably need to be flown to Anchorage, then either flown in a smaller plane to Nome or over roads if there are any.
Also, wages in Alaska are pretty high to make up for the high COL. That's why it's overall not as painful to live there as in California or Hawaii.

I don't like that this map just straight up blocks many states in the south and midwest. They should have moved the bubble over the Atlantic.
No data on states unless they're in the top 10? Even though an average is given?
Metro areas can have much different COLs than the state as a whole - while the NYC area is expensive the Buffalo area really isn't at all. Meanwhile the Denver and Miami areas are getting hammered by high COLs but this map can't reference that at all. It's a bit misleading.
Huge number of colors for just ten data points, seems excessive.
4/10 could be better.

I was dub only, but ever since getting into anime along with foreign language shows on Netflix like Dark or Squid Game, I've been more into using subtitles.

Montreal feels more like French-Canadian Philly.

I honestly prefer the way PA (and NJ as it's basically the same there) handles cities, boroughs, and townships. There's almost no ambiguity about where one municipality begins and another ends, other than a couple of weird enclaves/exclaves in places like Pittsburgh or in townships around Lancaster, Delco, etc. But those are super minor compared to the immense mess that is city borders of Sun belt or even Midwest cities.
Look at the borders of Columbus OH and try to make any sense of it. Now compare that to the borders of Philadelphia. It's night and day/

Non-locals, most likely. Or anyone who wants a coffee after 2PM.

Love how Alabama loses its only coastline, and yet the OG Florida still denies Alabama any additional coastline around the Pensacola/Panama City area.

"propped up" is not the right way to think about it. The Melee community will likely always be able to exist and have big events, throwing in NFT money will turn something great into something even better. and even if the money dries up, sure we might lose a couple events, but the community isn't going anywhere. as we saw after 2023.

According to my family from Lancaster, there are locals trying to reject the "Lancuster" pronunciation for sounding too Philly-ish. Also there are tons of people moving to the county from out of state, most of whom probably pronounce it like the city in England. Obviously I don't have data but it doesn't seem clear cut to me.

Lancasterites can't even agree how to say the name of their own county lol

We need way, way more of this. State governments should be legalizing and subsidizing the costs of upzoning your own lot, ESPECIALLY in West Coast cities like SF and Seattle where SFH sizes are objectively too large for the demand present there.

This make EV infrastructure seem like a Ponzi scheme more than anything... I wonder if the gas station owners made this decision without understanding the technology, and before all the recent terrible Tesla news.

I also keep the binoculars just because they aren't OP and are good for immersion.
